Video Description

For my first video I will show the strategies I use to crush the multi-table sit n go's on full tilt poker. I get down to heads up action so you will get to see what I do to exploit my oppenents in the various stages of the sit n go's. This video also includes commentary about the software and stats used to be a winning player.

Comments

I found your video verry interesting. You are a lot tighter than I imagined, especially late game. I was very surprised A7o was a fold 5 handed utg I would turbo shove in that spot, also your caling range is quite tight. For example you folded KJo to a 5bb button shove, I would assume that he is shoving at least 60% making us like 56%, is 60% too wide a range to give him, or is there another factor that affected your decision.

Clearly you are a huge winner, and you have realy inspired me to move up and beat the 69 45ers (currently 42% at $24 sngs (shameful brag), 69ers are currently a bit more swingy), so I would realy appreciate any comments you can give back, really enjoyed the video and your analysis.
Do you adjust your strategy much playing the 69s compared to the 24s, (my game involves a few wider shoves than yours which I think must work better at this limit?)?

One more thing, do you coach? Would you be interested in a sweat session or 2 I think you could really help my game.
tnx hennerz1 (full tilt).

I appreciate your feedback. As for the hands you referenced, I don't like to shove ace rag hands. When called I will be dominated almost every time and even if KQ calls I'm only 60/40. I looked back through my hand histories of those 4 tournaments and I did not find where I folded KJ for a 5bb button shove. But in general I would call in that spot. It depends on the situation and player though.

With your roi at the $24 sngs I think you should be able to beat the $75 sngs. The competion isn't that much tougher from my experience. These 45 man sit n go's have quite a bit of variance though so if your sample size isn't large enough yet you could just be running bad at the $75 level.

I don't make many adjustments based on the buyin, but I would be more willing to shove a hand like AK early in the tournament at the lower buyin, becuase you will have weaker players showing up with much worse hands. I would be more inclined to just call preflop with AK at the $75 level.

I have done some coaching in the past and I am open to doing a sweat session or 2. However, I do expect to make close to what I make playing poker. Otherwise it is better for me to just play poker. So the going rate is $150/hr. Let me know if you are still interested.

Tnx for getting back to me so quick.
Ive watched a few videos in the past and you do seem to have a different viewpoint than what ive seen. I think i would be interested in a few sweats, think it would definitely be a good opportunity. Your rate sounds reasonable, but it wont be until some time in june after ive finished my degree.

I found it interesting you said you dont adjust for the buyin, I am sure I am just running bad ( well im up but i have high aspirations).
Do you have any way I can contact you outside here (i dnt think you can pm through this?) so we can discuss availibilty etc. You going to vegas this year?

If you have AIM let me know what your user name is and I can hit you up on there. Otherwise I can email you if you want.

Do you know if there is a tracker working with MAC ? Pokertracking seems to only work with PC.

If you know about a program please let me know .

Max

yo pimpindonks whats goin on i was woundering if u can help me out with my game my AIM is rml1784 and I am rml1784 on ftp aswell.

Max, you will need to check the pokertracker website for details. Holdem Manager is another stat tracking tool.

rml1784, I am willing to do coaching for you. My rate is listed above. I do have a couple of projects going on right now, but I'm willing to work with anyone who wants to improve.

ty for posting these videos they will def. help out alot you sure are a solid player.
really interested in 45mans. here is my aim POKERJIF hit me up.

JIFSRT8, I'm glad you like the video. I am not taking on anymore students for coaching right now. However, I may in the future.

I love playing the 45mans as well. I am going to do another video about them in June so stay tuned for that.

hey pimpindonks if u want u cant text me at 585 284 1396 and we can talk poker?

rml1784, if you have questions for me you would like to ask there are probably other people with similar questions so I can answer them here for everyone at the same time. It will save me time to do it that way. So you can ask here or in the forums. Thanks

Pimpin, I have been a big fan for a while, always wished you would make a video, you, beanmo, jackal and azntracter are my all time favorite players and you have all tought me everything I know. I was a sng grinder for 5months but lost bankroll management and hit the rails after a massive downswing, havent grinded in 2months but will be back as I am going to go full time in september, I felt it was my biggest weakness bankroll management so needed to teach myself a lesson with time out, am about to start rebuilding part time now so look out for me n hope to be playing you again soon, please if you have any information/ help on a 20yr old with low funds to becum a grinder let me know because the swings are hard to deal with n low stakes arn't profitable I recon, how many buy ins at $20 sngs wud u recomend to start bare in mind I play 6-12 at a time n around 11-15% roi in slow blind sngs over 1k sample.

RYHUNDO, poker is an emotional game and there are many players that are good players but are unable to deal with their emotions during the bad times. I have days when I get it all in with a significant edge 40 times and lose 35 of them. Everyone, has those days and I just stop playing if I feel I am getting angry or upset. I recommed you do the same thing when things aren't going your way.

As far as buy ins for Non Turbo SNGs I think 50 buyins is enough for a 11-15% roi. Your bankroll is your tool to insure you don't go busto during the bad times. So if you can do more than that do it, but 50 buy ins is the minimum I would go with.

Thanks mate, yeh if im going to take it serious i need to deal with the emotions. I think when doing it full time it will be easier as you can take a break a go back to it the next morning when your feeling fresh but when i have to go to work n think about it its hard to get through the day so i dnt stop tilting before the next session. but mate thanks for your advice, everyone in the poker comunity seems so cool man, I hope to see/play more of you. Yeh i thought 50 buy ins to start but may not move to the next jump until i have like 70. anyways thanks again n gl at the tables.

Hey pimpin

Ihave u at 14/12 your very tight, i grind these as spurs123 and play at 20/13 is this just to loose iyo,

spurs123 1,176 $8 $23 34% $9,920 - FullTilt E45-90 S16-30 x

dom23, 20/13 is not to loose. There are many winning styles of poker. If that is working for you than stick with it. For me though I play 12-16 tables at a time so the tighter style works better for me with that.

Hi Pimpindonks. I might want to get coaching from u, can u add me on aim to talk about details? my aim is sibast1 or hjemerotte@ofir.dk on msn.
/Rasmus

Sibist, we may be offering some coaching services in the future on this site if there is enough demand for it, but currently I am just pretty focused on playing poker and making the videos.

ty for that great video, i really liked it!
I was very surprised A7o was a fold 5 handed utg too
but as u said it was pretty marginal...

Pimpin, how large a sample size do you think is required before you can start seeing true results, say for a 18, 27 or 45 sng's?

To be safe I think 1000 sngs for the 45 mans. The lower the amount of players the less sngs required to find out your true win rate. So for 9 man non turbo sngs 500 should be good. 18 man and 27 man will be somewhere in between.

I unlocked this video and consider this a must see for any new sng player. Great mindset for low stakes sng's, started using a couple of the programs he mentions and they definitely help my game and level of thinking about the game. Would like to see more vids at these levels for the grinders out there like me.

Just a question regarding your KO games. SS told me that they dont track bounties in there stats, so i wanted to know if you track your average bounties u get per turny. I would estimate a good player that goes deep in many turnys would get atleast a couple a game but thats just a guess. it feels like i get atleast 2 on average a game but the times i make the FT im sure its up around 5 or more. Anyway just curious if you have an estimate on how many you get a game.

When I was playing these everyday I did track the bounties. It has been a couple months since I have played these though. I don't remember exactly but I think it was around 2 per 90man sng.

what are bounties? like you knock someone out you get a small money?

Mhh, yes, but more important than the number of players for estimating a true winrate is the acutal ROI. The lower the ROI the bigger is the standard deviation in the overall winnings.
Example: 500x Turbos 9man, with 63 1st,62 2nds 62 and 62 2nds -> ROI05%, would match a 54,42% confidence to be a winning player.
@yankeefanx23: http://www.aleomagus.freeservers.com/Spreadsheet/
This is a "confidence calculator" where you get some prob-numbers about your true winrate if you enter your actual results (works for 9mans only).

Bottom Line: Since the better players in the 45man have much higher ROIs (20-30%) than the 9man-regs (<5-7%) I would expect the ROI and true winrate to converge with smaller samplesizes in the 45mans. [Btw: on 2+2 you will find winning regs with loosing stretches of 1k and some with BE stretches of 3k games in the 9man turbos]

@pimpindonks
I would like to know if you in the course of your 45man-play you ever changed your overall game-plan? Any real significant changes of your strategy would be interesting.
And I would like to hear something about you longest BE-stretches and your downswings. If you don't mind to tell.

btw: Your videos are really cool to watch. Thank you.

I haven't made any changes, I just adjust to the stack sizes at any given point. As for downswings. I used to 20 table $60 and $119 turbo sngs on another site and was break even on the tables for about 3000 sngs. I made a lot of money in bonuses in that time but was even on the tables. With the 45 mans my downswings are much less severe maybe a week is the longest I have gone without turning a profit in them.

thank you

and one more question to your multitaling-set up.
How long do you play, how many games/hours a day, how many days a week. Do you stack/tile/cascade ...

I have a mass tabling video on here that answers most of your questions. I try to play 6 to 10 hours a day for 5 or 6 days a week.

thx

edit: watched the preview of that video you mentioned. That was recorded prior to to the software-changes that f*** up so many things, such as
- autoregistration
- auto activation of tables
- autoclicking "I'm back"-Buttons

Sad

hi pimpindonks,
ty for video. I very like ur play, trying to play similar. i play 45 turbos at PS multitabling 1.15 and 3.25, i noticed they call shoves very more often, should i be happy they call me or tighten up my showing range (when all folded to me and i am on the button or SB) in reason i dont have folding equity enough to show and if, how much then?

bsnrk, if you are certain your opponent will call with a wide range than you should tighten your shoving range. But you must be certain your opponent will do this or you are costing your self EV by shoving a tighter range.
