I swear this card combination is my nemesis. Not strong but not weak. Workable if I limp in with it yet a troublesome hand against a strong player or any hand with a real kicker. I tend to fold it early in a tourney if I’m out of position and feel unnerved about it post flop.
If I manage to limp in and catch the ace I still feel anxious due to the mid-range kicker. The only success I’ve had is playing it off of an obviously weak or loose aggressive player – (the type who will push “Ace –anything”).
Any ideas out there?
I pass it a lot early to mid position and even AJ. You are looking for a 10 high flop really as on an Ace high flor and u bet out and get raised you don't know where u are... You could call and play the turn but ur call just inflates the pot for no reason and u r probably behind.
Thanks for the input. I appreciate the help.
I would never play ATo in a STT at any stakes 50$+, and really not in the 33s either. Not until the late stages where you can push it a lot from mid-late-pos and also call alot of late-pos-shoving short-stacks.
thereÂŽs basically NO value in lpaying it post flop as yo uare always dominated if you get action.
always fold it to raises basically.. late in STTs you can open up with it but only if you are mid to late position
To add to what the other guys say:
It's a good hand to isolate limper/limpers with. Say you have a guy playing too many hands and you're in late position with AT. You can raise that baby up over his limp and either have him fold or get HU in position with the limper. Your hand will be almost always better than the random garbage he's limping with and he will fold to a cbet often enough.
it can definitely be a troublesome hand. if you are new to playing i would definitely suggest playing a tighter game and playing only big hands and betting them big until you are more comfortable playing hands like these and being able to read where you are at in a hand better.
I definitely wouldn't be calling raises with this hand. i would only like playing this hand from late position in an unopened pot and then evaluating after that if somebody calls/raises.
In tournaments i definitely wouldn't want to be limping with this hand at all. its raise or fold for me.
Agree with the above, hands like A10o and KJo are going to cost you alot of money in the long run if you play these early in sng's or tournaments and especially out of position. Let the donkeys be the ones to play them. And take them to value town when they do.

I dont play it out of position or against a raise. I'm most likely to play it in position to a limper. Most ppl who play A+rags will limp with an A8 or lower. You have to be really careful about how you approach the play postflop, but I've found that it is effective against ppl who hit the A and nothing else.
