It seems like forever I've been on the verge of making a leaderboard, but always seem to be just a few percentage points off.
However, in looking at the stats of those that I'm chasing, it seems that a number of them aren't even playing any more.
One player on the 6-max $5-15 avg profit leaderboard doesn't even have any qualifying games since Oct 2008.
Is there any way to make these avg profit leaderboard at least something that's current. I don't think that games from the past should be excluded for consideration if someone is an active player and has good results (to reward the recreational skilled player), but I do think that there should be some requirement that you at least keep active in that category whether that be by playing monthly or maybe that you've played something to qualify you in the past 6 months.
Some of these guys have quit playing altogether and some have moved up. Just makes sense that to keep your star, you have to be a current player.
A boxer doesn't keep his ranking after he's retired. Nor does a tennis player. And, while you might have had the best stats as a centerfielder in AAA, those stats are gone when you move up to the majors.
Just my opinion, but I think it would give a lot more of us a better chance of making it on your leaderboards if people needed to maintain their stars.
Heck, in the world of poker, some of these guys run 500 games in a week. If they have one heater of a week, they could earn a star and then never play that level again or on that site again just to maintain forever their sharkscope star.
Thanks!

500 is definitely a very trivial requirement. i do like the idea of best 500 ever and having it basically how it is but that they player has had to of played at least a game in the last x amount of months.
For a semi-casual player, my 500 games comes over about 6 months of play. I do have quite a few games outside of this range though, but even if I just played the $13's, it's still several months of play at my current rate. The super turbo players though could grind 500 games in a week though.
I definitely think a change needs to be made here to reward current players and not someone that played two years ago, but since I made my leaderboard, you can leave it as is for at least a little while

It's definitely a valid point. We have been considering changing the leaderboard to the best 500 games in a row ever, or changing it to be for the hottest players who are currently playing, or replacing it with both of these. It really depends what level of interest there is from users in these tables.
One thing we undoubtedly would have to do would be make the games requirement variable depending on the games type as 500 is a trivial requirement for the super turbo guys, but pretty hard for the deepstack players or Badugi players to ever get to.
