Having said this im a micro stakes reg, but i swear every tournament i load up has the same 3 or 4 decent regs on it even at the $1 stakes. I find this strange some have winnings of $2k or more so why grind out for hours what you can win in a few SnGs at stakes ur clearly rolled for. Maybe they took their shot and found they couldnt beat the higher stakes or they cashed out or any other reasons out there i dont know. Im currently grinding with the sole intention of moving up. I would love to hear from some of the winning $1 $2 regs as to why they grind these stakes for hours. look up people like herq77, GUAZZELLI, LTUkaunas and canisuxout?. sick grinders who i respect for what they do but why?
I don't quite understand this either. If you look at the SharkScope leaderboard for top $2 and under players, there's one guy (pokerguru69) who actually earns $10,000+/year playing micro-stakes. This is really impressive, but isn't there a point where it's time to step up and play higher?

dude has to be playing at least that many sngs, 13,000. why not play $10 buy ins of what he's playing. its pretty much the same skill if he can kill micros. maybe he just likes that star on top of the leaderboard.
This is the first time I wrote here, and first of all I ask you to forgive me for my English, it is terrible.
I have some reasons to play this stakes. First it is the leader board. I have started to climb the steps and I'm in 1st place now (4-6 table - 2 and under). That's huge for me, since i do not play for a living. The second is just that. I do not play for the money (obviously I don't like to loose), I just like the game itself and doesn't meter the stake. One of my biggest challenges is to play as many tables as possible, and now I play like 45-50 of them.
I have never tried to play higher stakes (I have only 2 or 3 games $8+ from a total of 11K SnGs), but I'm pretty sure that I can beat the 45 mans turbo "easily" (it is never easy) until the $27-$38 range. Next year I'll play other limits and who knows maybe win another diamond star (I hope to maintain my this year).
See you and again sorry about my English
GUAZZELLI - Brazil
for you saying your english was bad i thought it would be worse. not bad at all.
wish i lived in a country where you had to learn a second language then i could understand the other half of players that post on this site.
i definitely understand you playing just low stakes for the reasons you have provided. Gl maintaining it this year and good luck next year whatever you plan on playing.
we play the smaller stales because you can play really tight cash alot. plus because play is weaker you dont have to watch others as closly. so you can play 20 tables or more at a time, fold 90% of your hands and make money playing $1-$5.
plus on a site like stars they have leaderboards that pay so many spots for you best 20 game and 100 game result.
so durring the day when play is better they will play small stakes to get their 100 games in then play higher stakes to get 100 in there as well.
another advantage is that if you play 4 tables at $5 and had 3 bb and get in bad once you just lost $22 but if you play 20 $1 for the same amount you have less chance of bad beating in all of them.
so in other words by playing a smaller stakes you have less major down swings in you bank role. if i had a $22 bank role i would play 20 $1 sit and goes knowing i would have somthing afterword. but i would not play 4 $5 as this would be bad stake managment.
i understand it from a bankroll management situation but if you are winning 10k at $2 and under stakes you can afford to move up, and you will make more money.
not always.
you roi at $5 can be almost 2x better than for $10 because of the differance in the play depending on your style. a stong player at the $3 level is not always good at $30 if he doesnt know how to pusty shove good.
and it gets harder to concentrate on push shove when playing 20 $30 tables since more people are around at higher levels.
pokerstars has a different leader board for $5 sngs than for $10. only your first 5 blocks of 20 games count on the leader board. after that they dont count only blocks of 100 do. so if you start playing $5 instead, you might win a prize at the $5 level.
i find it harder to play 8 $30 1 table sngs than to play 18 $5 1 table sngs.

makes no sense to me. but not to worry if you are playing regs at lower stakes because you know that they are obviously still beatable if they haven't moved up in stakes. I'm playing $50 buy ins now with multiple winning regs at my table and find it to still be easy to beat the game. starts to suck a little when there is 5 regs at a ten person table but you can all still steal everybody elses money and as long as you are better than the regs or some of them you can still profit.
