I've been using Skype as my video chat and instant message client of choice for a while now. Since I downloaded the app on my iphone, I'm starting to see the value it could have as a cellphone service alternative. It look like for just $2/month, they'll let me make phone calls through skype to anyone in the US. ---There's similar plans for other countries.
Is this to good to be true? Can anyone comment on the service?
It sounds like it could one day put an end to most phone plans! I guess since it's only a few dollars, I'll splurge and get the subscription. I'm hoping It will allow me to cut my cellphone plan down a notch or two.
Oddly enough, I'm used to winning/losing thousands in a few nights (or hands on a few occasions) of poker, but I have to research the hell out of something before I buy it.
I use it a lot. It's cheaper than my cell phone and the quality is great. Most times the quality is better than my cell phone. Can't beat the price of $2.95/mo.

It's pretty good as long as you have a good internet connection. I only used the free application of it, but my Mom had a subscription service plan with them. I think when she bought it it was $29.95 for a 1 year plan. It was just like a real phone service, she got a real phone number and everything. But she didn't have a normal handset. She was just using the headphones on her computer, which is a little inconvenient, so I bought her one of those Belkin WiFi Phones and it worked great. She could use it anywhere with an open wifi connection.
