Hi all,

Been playing poker for about 3 years and im finally making money now that ive learnt how NOT to tilt, just used to play for fun and did well until i got a bad beat, upped the ante then lost it all.

I play $5 heads up SnG and managed to get 9th on the leaderboard starting 2010. my bankroll is only $50 as everytime i get to $60 i bank the $10 profit.

Ive now recontly tried $10 and it jus isnt working for me, im guessing $50 isnt enough of a bankroll to allow for the bad beats.

Question is what bankroll do you guys use for your heads up? $10, $20, $30 and so on.

my aim is to try and make £100 a day, at the moment im making an average of £15 from 3-4 hours play a day from the $5 heads up.

Please share your strategies, ideas or comments.

Good Luck on the tables! Smile

Just looked at your graph bettinuts and as you said you used to have quite a big problem with tilting. But i think your main problem is your bankroll management if you could manage your bankroll appropriately then you should have no problem making money as your ROI is actually quite good. From your graph i'm guessing that when you have been on a downswing in the past you have been raising the stakes and loosing lots of money in a small period of time after working for ages to make a profit.

I would advise that you keep a bankroll of 20 times the stake that you are playing, so for $5 games this would be $100 and for $10 you need $200 etc. As you are trying to move up from $5 to $10 the strategy i would use would be to continue playing $5 SNG until your bankroll gets above $200 and ONLY then enter a $10 SNG if you go on to lose this and your bankroll drops below the threshold i.e. $200 then DROP the stake again, eventually if you can become a profitable player at the desired level your bankroll will slowly rise well above the threshold. If you make sure that you follow the rules above and DO NOT increase the stake when you don't have the bankroll to try and make back a loss, if you are a good player i can guarantee you will make money.

The advantage of this strategy is that if you go on tilt you won't lose your whole bankroll as you have in the past.
I have done this and it is working well, i'm trying to reach as higher stakes as possible but if you are just trying to make £100 a day (which i think will be quite tough btw) then keep climbing the stakes until you reach a level where this amount of profit is possible. You might find that you reach a level where you are unable to make a profit, experiment to find out at what stake you can make the most money, but don't break the bankroll rules. Also don't take money out of your account until you are playing at the level you are aiming to reach, and when you do so i would advise leaving at least 40 times the stake your playing at in your account.

hope this helps
