Nothing puts me on tilt more then playing against someone who min-bets every single hand. If you limp, they min-bet, if you check, they min-bet, If you bet, they min-raise. I can never get a read on these guys and I always find myself losing chips by either calling them down
One of two things (or sometimes both) usually happens when I play these guys.
1. I call down the min-bets, figuring they're giving me value to chase down almost almost anything, and then I either give up on the river or make a crying call (of like 20 or 30 chips). After several times of doing this, my stack gets crippled.
2. I get tired of their min-betting and start putting in large preflop re-raises to build the pot. If they call, they usually go onto min-bet the flop --- like betting 20 chips into a 160 chip pot. At this point, if I have a hand or not, I have no idea how to continue.
Does anyone here have a good strategy or advice for beating these guys? Does anyone here actually prefer to play this way?
I like to make them pay to play. Let them have the small stuff when you have weak hand and any hand that is better than average, make them pay to see a flop. If you connect, make them pay to see every card.
The absolute worst way to play them is to engage in their game. Don't hose them with money cause they are tilting you. Playing weak hands is a bad idea against any opponent, know matter how weak their are.
Just use tight strategy and if you know his range you could then raise him with nothing...if he is always calling just whait for a big hand
Thanks for the advice. I'll have to refrain from letting them pull me into their game. I'll try tightening up a bit and seeing if I can outplay them post flop with the better hand.
It is nice to know how effective it is!
That is an actual strategy that Daniel Negreanu mentions. There is a video on stoxpoker where Collin Moshman uses it for a couple of SNGs to show how to play it. I will usually begin playing that way against an unknown until I get a feel on how he will respond.
I'm not sure how tightening up against someone with a range of ATC is correct, it kind of seems to be like the opposite should be true.
against min betors pre-flop call any two until 25/50 blinds. Tightening up pre flop is the worst thing you can do.
after the flop, either reraise your standard raise you would do on flop with second pair and above and with draws, or flat call. Both these plays are as confusing to your opponent as the min raise your opponent does to you. Also, if you get re-reraised, you will know if youre beat, relative cheaply.
Its ok to fold the rest small pots.
Hope i was helpful to some,

ok. Thanks. Great tips
I will probably go to the stars... to see what's going on
reraise them every time you have a hand. bet reletlessly for value when u hit and only go for strong draws. (always check call, if u bet a draw and someone raises you have to fold regardless of raise size)
well i know these kind of people pretty good because i'm one of them :P
i think the best strategy is to adapt their style, do the same.
put on some good value bets and try to trap them.
or just be agressive and try to play the good hands only but raise everytime they min-bet on ya.
Dont let them tilt you ,tilt is the quickest way of getting rid of your bankroll trust me I do it plenty , this type of play doesnt tilt me , but players who are lucky every hand do
I find not all , but a lot of these guys playing this style , think this is how you play tight .
You can find this out reasonably quickly by a 3xbb raise pre , obviously not every time but often , and if that is thier way of playing tight , they have to be holding very good cards not to fold .
But be aware that some very good player's use this style .
min bet back......encourage them to break their min bet strratagy and they will soon show the strength of their hands.......However if it is a non fish.....play your cards at them or you'll loose out. If your feeling particularly brave the 5x bet them every time they min bet.......with a view to fold to an all in re-raise.....this is my prefreferd strat...

If they are literally min betting 100% of the time or close to it be willing to call wider out of position. You should be playing medium jacks and queens, like J9 or Q8, most kings, all aces and all pocket pairs out of position. Personally I'll play any two suited cards against a player like that, although mathematically that probably isn't right. If I connect strong like top pair I'll 3x their bet. If I missed but have some draws I'll just keep calling.
When you have a strong hand like A10 you should be 3-betting them to get value for your hand. If I 3-bet them I'll donkbet most dry flops.
In position I'll raise almost every button until they start 3-betting me. If they fold to c-bets you should be c-betting on dry flops until they start playing back at you, then adjust accordingly.
The biggest thing is don't get mad at them and tilt off your stack with weak and marginal hands. If they give you the right price to chase your draws chase them. If you have decent showdown value call them down.
