Im going to give the scenerio that I was in a few weeks back. Im just trying to figure out if i made the right play or not.

*All are estemations close to actual numbers
980 man MTT I think it may have 50,000 gurantee w/ 70 dollar buy in.

Payout structure.
1.12,000
2. 9000
3. 6000
4. 3800

Chips count.
1. 650,000
2. 600,000 ME
3. 240,000
4. 220,000

Blinds are about 12,000 /24,000 and ante.

THe chip leader at this point was raising almost everyhand with absolute nothing 34 jack2 etc.... Anyways at this point im SB he is BB. I raise about 3.0 big blinds to about 78,000 chips. He goes over the top for all his chips. He is the only one that can take me out at this point. At this point I put him on A weak ace or even a mid mid pair like 7s to jacks trying to get me off my hand.
I called with my QQ. He flips over A5. He riverd me an ace on the river to take me out.

Knowing this scenario would you guys have called?
Would anyone played it defferently?
Anythoughts?

MIke.

Well, if he was raising, re raising with nothing, QQ would of seemed the pretty much nuts here in my opinion. I don't think you played it wrong after raising. But, maybe trapping would of been better here. Just calling making it seem like you had a weaker ace than him or even small pockets like 3's 4's etc.. And he thought by being aggressive again he could push you out.

To be honest though mate there is nothing you can do by getting rivered like that. That's just poker. I still would of been the "Trapee" and slow rolled him.

I'd probably call out of principle because it's pretty obvious we;re crushing his range here. If we win then we've got a ridiculous chip lead that ~guarantees us at least 2nd and gives us a very good shot at the win. You're going to have to clash with mr bigstack at some point and QQ is a very good hand to do it with.

I also don't think the difference in payouts is enough for ICM to make this a fold, idk. This is the sort of spot that I see and think there might be a small chance ICM says its a fold but there's no way im folding this in real time. Also if calling somehow _is_ a mistake through ICM, it can't be a huge one. NH imo.

imo you played it perfectlly, you dont need to trap a player like this when he is going to come over the top with A5, he is up for a gamble and you put him on a hand and you were correct. shame he sucked out.

i mean the situation is perfect - an over aggreassive player in the bb - you have a massive hand 4handed, you make a standard to big raise hoping he will at least call - he then makes a move on you - i would snap call with a smile on my face
