I'm going to give it a try

I'm a 21 year old college student and my course load doesn't give me a lot of consistent free time to get a real work schedule. So even though I've played a little over 1400 sngs, only now am I trying to be really serious about bankroll management and consistency of play. I'm comfortable 6-tabling 6.50 turbo sngs and I kind of gave myself a 2-day test run putting in 3 sessions of 6 tables. While I made about $20.00 profit/day I'm more pleased that 36 sngs later, I'm not bored but encouraged. I realize that I may not remain this enthusiastic but this might be the perfect way to spend 3 hours of each day. Wish that I win every coinflip and more importantly help me with any advice you possibly have!

Thanks,
Zach

I have played about like you have in the past and about the same stakes. One piece of advice is to just stick to one type of game and try to master the ins and outs of it. On another note be prepared to have long stretches of no profits where you may just find yourself going sideways. I know from experience and by just looking at graphs of pros online that you could experience a sideways movement in profits where you seem to plateau for hundreds if not more. I had a run where I pretty much went sideways for 1500 sitngos before i blew out of it and reached new heights in my bankroll. Try to play stakes where you have at least 50 or more buyins of the stake +rake. If you need to grind up your bankroll I would suggest Double or nothin's at small stakes and play those for a while. You should be able to get used to playing up to 20 Dons at once and this will allow you to get a higher volume in since you will need to do so when you play Don's. Most importantly make sure you do your research and try to better your game by watching videos or ready poker theory books. Sit n Go wizard is a great teaching tool and you can take tests on it on what would be your pushing and calling ranges. If you have more questions let me know.

That is helpful, thanks. Unfortunately, I am very against the DONs because the strategy for them to me is very weak and against everything that has made me a better player. I'm not saying I couldn't adapt and learn the strategy without hurting my NL game, but that is my current concern. I'm thinking to achieve the monetary feets I am desiring that I am going to need to maybe play 24 sngs a day instead of the 18 first proposed. I appreciate the emphasis put on books because I believe that the 6 or so I have read (most importantly Harringtons books) have been tremendous for my fundamentals and table presence. I had temporary success with PLO8B when I barely knew what the game was but recently I have pretended that it doesn't exist. That has definitely improved my bankroll management and more importantly my consistency of profit. I worry about the sideways times that you mention but I guess I'll learn to take that like I've learned to emotionlessly ignore beats. Thanks a lot for your feedback and I'll try to update this often.

GL on your quest. pretty much how i started just playing low stakes trying to make a bit of extra cash.

Yeah im multi tabling the 6.50s on full tilt. Lots of bad players so they are very profitable.

I'm just wondering if anyone recommends any software for me to use while on my sit and go venture. After much deliberation, my goal is to play 500 sngs a month. Any additional insight is greatly appreciated.

I would use "poker ninja" to help manage your tables. Other than that I don't use any HUD software if that is what you are looking for.

table ninja?

yeah table ninja looks like a good fit. I'm gonna give the trial a chance and see how I like it. Thanks.
