my story pt 2

Sorry for the late entry i know i said tomorrow but as it turns out my 21st celebrations began a week early and will continue till this Sunday. Going to be
absolutely fantastic. A quick shout out to all the drinks i have drunk, the drinks i will drink and the drinks i will throw up to Smile

OK so onto part 2, if you read part 1 i am sorry. It was not very interesting, but this tale improves as one continues.

***********Part 2*************

I left off having just deposited $50 dollars onto full tilt. I had a vague idea what to expect but unfortunately know one to guide me through. I did not have some one who had already been there and that had a large bearing on what follows.

That is my good readers, the one tabling of 1-10 dollar SnG's as my bankroll allowed it. I followed chris ferguson's bank roll building guide that he used for his 0-10k challenge. Looking back i do not know how i even made it this far. However at one point it did look bleak, as i had lost close to 1/2 my bankroll in a short time. I did not know however that this was just variance, i doubted myself, cursed full tilt and swore...alot.

All over losing a coin flip or a 60/40. Then as one can imagine my luck changed, i came 3rd in a 3.30 90man. Followed quickly by a 2nd. Variance had court up with me, but at the time i thought it was because i was Gods gift to poker. For i had made 230 dollars!! from 414 games.

The months that followed where similar. I did not withdraw from my bankroll at any stage in these coming months, as i did not want to be set back in my journey.

February: 328 $1 $10 14% $422
March: 403 $4 $19 21% $1,553
April: 439 $3 $23 14% $1,328
At the end of April/beginning of march i won my first tournament. a 24 dollar 12k guaranteed for 2.6k, before that i had played somewhere in the realm of 20-30 tournaments. I still remeber the winning hand where i flopped a set, he turned a straight, the money went in, i swore and the board paired. My friends however were none to pleased as this tournament ended at 5 in the morning, i did not care, i was again feeling on top of the poker world.
May: 521 $5 $50 9% $2,760
June: 433 $8 $53 10% $3,386

Those first 6 months while profitable were hindered by my lack of experience. Firstly i did not have rakeback, frankly i did not even know rakeback existed until 4 or so months in. GET RAKEBACK!!

While i think it helped my development, i definitely feel i 1 tabled for to long. My pursuit up the ranks took an extended period of time as my hourly was so low. So a word of advice to all up coming players, when you are comfortable with your game. ADD TABLES. I must stress though that you need to be comfortable. Many a player has began with more tables than he can handle and as a result he would hemorrhage money in spots where he should not.

So please any up and coming player who would like some help, get in contact with me i am more than happy to offer advice or what ever is needed.

Part 3: My first real downswing and the result it had on my psyche. A downswing that made me want to quit for good.

Congrats on the tournament hit Walchy. I agree with Rakeback. I just started a couple of weeks ago after playing on and off for a couple of years. Its incredible how much money you give away in the rake. If anyone plays PLO8, get rakeback before you play another session.
