May 5 card draw playing.
Week 1: After an excellent start to this year, March an April had been a real battle and had not lived up to my expectations in terms of money earnt. May was a different matter, and whilst week 2 of May would see me concentrating on trying to hit a big score in the SCOOP series, week 1 was all about the weekly leaderboard.
After a strong start, i had begun to slip backwards towards the middle of the week, and what looked like a potential winning score was looking more like a top 5 at best score. Despite this, I managed to save the best for last, and in the last 20 games I needed 406 points when my average was around 350. I put in a great last 20 block with 433 and took 1st place for a great bonus of $150. Added to my weekly takings this put me on a very healthy +$280 for the week and I feel comfortable enough to play some satellites in next weeks scoop, and not worry if they bring no profits.

Week 2: This wasnt a good week, but then that was always possible when taking satellite shots at a big score - it was all or nothing really. Finished 574th out of 3500 in the 5CD event, thats 34 places off cashing. Satellites were really unlucky with some tough beats, and a few goes at the $500 guaranteed came to nothing as well. Overall the week was -$94 which isnt good, but my previous good week gave my bankroll some cushioning so this type of hit isnt a worry. I'll have to be working extra hard next week, and I have a weekly leaderboard i9n my sights. I say "a weekly leaderboard" rather than "THE weekly leaderboard" because pokerstars has undergone some changes of late. The $2 turbos for 5CD are gone, replaced with normal and turbo options for $1 and $3. naturally all the regular crowd moved up to $3 tables which is everything I hoped for because it now means i'll be competing in the Mars leaderboard instead of Mercury. Thats a 1st place prize of $300 instead of $150, and one i'll be going after in the next week.
