Summer Challenge: 5k Profit

So I've played poker on and off for the last several years and its time to set myself one challenge, one goal to prove to myself and the world that normal university going average smart level people can play poker and make 5k over 3 months instead of getting a real job...

Off and running

This is it. I am positive as by now and that NOT considering the bonuses I had. Which means my game, which before had me seeing losing 20$ over two months, gave me 30$ back in just one month.

I had a bit of a downswing today, and lost almost 10$, dunno what was going on, I just felt in a gambling mood and did a lot of stupid thing. Then I freed some time to play, and I crushed the games winning all the money back and show a profit of more than 10$.

Now some question:

Ring game six handed

So, I moved to cash game and got my feet wet with it playing 1/2c PLO.

I am now positive being up 21$ over my original 50$ bankroll. I must admit tought that's mostly because of FT promotions and bonus which allowed me to play for a while without going flat broke and with the recently held Take 2 kicked me up.

But in fact I'm now on the right track having all my session while "Taking 2" being positive and managed to learn a lot about the mindset I need to have when I hit the table and setting some goal.

Odiata varianza

ecco il primo bel dowswing,di 600 dollaroni,il problema è che nei momenti di varianza negativa,il gioco peggiora di molto e si amplificano i risultati derivanti da essa.

My first post

Il mio primo post di prova sul blog Wink

Come, get some!

Been a while since my last post.

I had some baad run, most due to lack of concentration because of personal problem keeping my mind busy but I managed to almost get back to where I was before the runz.

I finally cracked the ban on .com poker room we have in Italy and moved to FT to try the cash game, I guess since it's coming in Italy I should try to get an edge over my opponent by experiencing cash game sooner than most of them.

ExploitDonks $100 to 1k challenge day two Things go bad with bad management!

TBS is what i'm thinking! I stepped out of my manageing rules out of frustration which is a key reason why people bust. I started out the day playing an $18 6 max sng, a $12 Hu sngs x2 and a $5 tourney 1.5k gtd after an hour i busted out of both hus back to back on the top right I had JJ and same time bottom right i had KdJh with blinds on both tables @ 100/200 i had to make a move at both tables. i get shoved on both, On my top right i'm up against A 4 os (he flops an ace) and on my bottom right i'm ap against KcJs (he hits a 4 card flush spades).

What about the HEAT?!

So now the unbelievable bankroll of 85€ by winning a couple of 5€ game in a streak.

Recently I managed to find a way to walk trough my being out of br by playing constantly 1€ Omaha sngs which I'm confident to beat, and an occasionaly 5€ to try to pump the bankroll up.

This way my ROI went up a lot, hope this may help all of you out there.

I figured out that I got two problem, first I'm quite sensible to BR swings, so when I lose too much in a row I definitely go on monkey tilt wasting my work so far, but with the method of mixing stakes up this seems solved.

Hang in there!

Ok, I'm swinging hard, but I haven't been kicked out of my bankroll yet!
Instead I'm back to 69€, so, since I started my movin' up thing, I'm still positiv!

Yesterday I got a very tough run, losing all my games and ending up completely tilted!

One game I was third then some shit head decided he should call my pot sized bet with a gutshot and a 4 high spade draw, ending up with me bumping my queen high flush for all is chips when a spade hit the turn giving him a straight flush...!!!!GGAAAHK!

At night I was on a total tilt and desperately looking for some game to play

I've been terrible - starting fresh

I used to be so good at poker. I started in 2004 from a no-deposit $5 bonus and by 2005 I was able to purchase and pay off a new car with the profit I made. I worked my way up each limit, starting from the very bottom, making sure I had at least 25-50 buy-ins. Most of my winnings came from the $100 to $200 HU SNG's.

Ever since 2006 though, I've been a break even player. I haven't had any huge losses, but at the same time I haven't had any wins. My bankroll just kind of sits there...

My first problem was that I just a got a bit burnt out from heads up sng's. I decided to try out some other games, but rather then dropping down limits and working my way up, I would start pretty high. I'd be playing $20/$40 limit holdem, $400PLO, and up to $1,000NLH cash games without any prior experience. That got me nowhere.

Then, for a while, I experimented with multi-tabling low limit sng's. The idea is that the low limit games are so bad that you can just play ABC style poker and maintain a positive ROI. This didn't work for me either. I'd play 12 tables at a time for 4 hours+ and end up with about the same amount or less then I started with.

With my confidence shot, I started looking for more of a sure thing, so I tried getting into propping. Small sites, usually with less then 5 tables running a tune, hire props in an attempt to get new tables running. They'd give you back the rake you generated as payment. Theoretically it seemed like you could be making $3,000+ each month from your rake alone. Of course, that didn't work out. The sites never had anything above $50NL running and the tables were just filled with other props.

I decided that I'm going to go back to basics. I'll start from single-tabling $50HU SNG's and (hopefully) work my way up in stakes/tables slowly. I'll be using this blog to track my progress and keep myself motivated. GL to me Monkey
