My internet sucks

Every time I decide to play online, I have to worry about getting kicked off in the middle of a game. Its highly annoying and keeps me from playing as many games as I would. Had this problem for a few months now and the service provider (which has a monopoly in the Louisville area) cant seem to fix it, so I might just have to move somewhere else idk...
anser these questions..........
what type of cell phone provider do you have? (verizon, us cell, etc)
then from there if you have or get a newer phone depending on the company and phone you could tether so that your 3g/4g network gives your computer internet for $30/$20/or free depending on network and phone
i have US cell and have the android mesmerize and get free tethering. AMAZING. no more $60 a month for wireless card on top of splitting $30 a month internet
