MTT Week 1 Review

Tagged:

So the last week I gave myself a challenge to try out grinding some MTTs on Full Tilt, and it went ok. Ok, as in not great, but not bad... just ok. After 6 days and 159 MTTs I'm up a measly $51... but I'll take it! My bankroll has climbed a bit since a week ago which is good, mainly thanks to cashing in a Super Turbo sng $75 after using a token from my Iron Man promotion, and running decently in the $7 Super Turbos too. Its kinda nice to be putting in less volume on them actually, I tend to do better shorter sessions, but this is definitely something that I should improve on.

I've been mainly grinding the Turbo $6 27 mans, I kinda get the feeling that the players are kinda weak, especially when it gets to the final table, most of them are just too tight, and with a big stack its easy to manipulate the situation. However, since I like to start the day with MTTs and finish with Super Turbos, the volume of [European] players aren't as high as later on, and the 27 mans take a while to fill up.

I'm also the type of guy who lacks patience. I find the KO 90 mans are a long affair, and after playing for 2 hours is it really worth the time and money? You can be grinding these for ages and not cash, and when you do, since its structured so steeply its a lot of pressure to cash big. I find the same with the scheduled tournaments, they take ages and the payouts may not be worth your while unless you get top 5 or something...

Last night I had the most insane Super Turbo session, I played 31 sngs, got a ITM percentage of 42% which is really good, but still made a loss of $24 because I lost 7 heads up. Never won one. Was ridiculous. And then the final 4 tables totally sucked out on all of them including a sick 3 way all in when I had KK vs 99 vs AT 5 handed and the board ran JTTTT.

Now its the end of Week 1 and I think I'm gonna continue grinding the MTTs. As you were... as such, but I'll make it more formal in the next blog...

Hi Puyanwei,

I honestly think you should ditch the superturbos.

You're making $0.01 per game - $122 after an incredible $15K+ tournies.

On normal tournaments you've got a really impressive ROI of 57% and have made nearly $800.

Here's your stats.
1683 181 $4.37 $4 57% $791 PLPLPPLL N/A FullTilt Spd=N
1683 15,685 $0.01 $5 0% $122 LLLLPPLP N/A FullTilt Spd=ST

Superturbos are a con. Only the bank wins. It'll be much more profitable for you to play on other tables.

Hey Landsbanki,

Yeah my thinking is that I'm trying to "wean" myself off those eventually. I'm gonna practice those mtts more, and build up my roll until I can buy into higher stakes. For now playing Super Turbos is basically to top up my pts to reach iron man after my mtt sessions. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated bro!

Ok, I understand, superturbos are the best way to get bonus points and also rakeback.
