Why Positivity Rules, and Negativity Fucks You Up
My new computer has been working hard at importing my hands... only 8 hours to go!! LOL
Sooo I'm blogging again, but its cool I love doing it, especially now that I'm doing it more for me then you guys (though your fully welcome to read it!).
The last few days I've been really into something called "Real Social Dynamics".
One of the things that they talk about is how you should create an outgoing chilled fun persona, by being a positive person. The self prophecy of it allows you to be able to have the type of personality that demonstrates self worth, which creates value and therefore attraction to the woman.
There are a lot of concepts and points about what they do, and its kinda heavy, but none the less interesting. This got me thinking about positivity and the frame of mindsets, and how this can relate to our poker play (see I'll bring it round eventually;)).
I used to be a negative person, but now, I'm really trying hard have a positive mindset... in EVERYTHING. Why? Here's my thinking...
As a sceptic, I used to think that everyone is out for themselves and it is a big mistake to trust anyone. Hot girls are superficial and like rich, good looking guys. Rich guys drive poorer guys down and keep them there. Its all doom and gloom.
Negative point of view? Most certainly. But I'd always defend it and prefer the word REALIST.
Now I'm not saying that none of those things are true, coz a lot of them are. But its the consequence of having this mindset all the time that is bad for you. Because with this non trusting, negative bubble, what on earth would you actually do about it? A truly negative person would do NOTHING, because they simply believe that is the reality and you cant change things. To create change you have to believe that you can trust people which as a skeptic, you don't.
Lets say we don't trust our fellow man. We all wear headphones walking around our city, and have minimal communication with each other. If you have a room full of people that don't trust each other, then how is anything going to be achieved as a group? Obama and even our new PM in UK Cameron talks a lot about bringing back social values and trusting our fellow strangers again. Whether we truly believe that we can all be Samaritans is almost irrelevant because believing that we do, does more good them believing we don't.
In short, positivity promotes DOING and negativity promotes DOING NOTHING.
So this is [supposedly] a poker blog, so how do we relate it to poker?
Our positive attitudes will almost always = improvement, which over time = more $$$
Positive guy has a terrible session, but he knows that his plays are solid, and will try again tomorrow. He writes notes on his opponents, and maybe does a review to make sure. He is DOING POSITIVE actions despite the results.
Negative guy has a terrible session, and all hell breaks loose. He writes in chatbox telling his opponents how terrible they are, how bad their calls were. He blames the poker site for being rigged, and smashes his mouse. He's gotten nothing out of his session, and bitches about how much he lost. He is DOING NEGATIVE actions, and focusing on the results only.
I'm always looking to learn from the best players, and for me "the best" is defined by guys who are grinding everyday, all day, working their asses off, putting in sick volume and therefore sick profits. These guys are not the best players in the world in terms of skill. Hell, put the top 10 grinders on a ring table vs Durrr and Ivey and they might get eaten alive. But the fact that they have such a sick unflappable positive mindset is what I respect so much more then any psycho hand reading skills.
Be positive! Its so fucking good for you, on every level man!!

Nice post, very very true!
