PokerStars VIP Calculations
I'm always a bit skeptical when players are blabbing on about how they're gonna be going for Supernova Elite on Stars, because I get the feeling that a lot of them just don't really understand what an impossible task it is.
Of course, there will be different calculations in terms of playing cash, and playing MTTs would be just insane to achieve, but since I'm a SNG player I've calculated it in terms of Single Table Turbo SNGs.
Just for fun (I'm weird in this way), here's how many I'd have to play to get Supernova and Supernova Elite;
I already have about 1300 VPP so far...
For $3.40 SNGs it will take 39,952 games for me to get Supernova, and an impossible 404,324 to get Supernova Elite. If anyone does this then they'll be a legend for sure. (I feel a sick prop bet coming from some psycho!) If you did want to achieve this goal, then you'd have to play 1100 SNGs a day!
For $6.50 SNGs it is 35,883 for Supernova and 363,157 for Supernova Elite.
For $16s its 17,942 for Supernova and 181,579 for Elite. Still grinding the $16s for Supernova Elite, you'd still have to play 500 a day.
There is no doubt that Supernova is achievable, but the jump from 100,000 VPPs to 1,000,000 is super crazy. Those true Super Elite pursuers will definitely be playing 60hr weeks to achieve this. They wont have a life for the first 6 months. Of course, I'm calculating with micro stakes, which is silly, and there are other considerations to take like moving up stakes and building your bankroll which are quicker ways to get more VPPs.

I'm on break from school right now but have been playing 6 hours a day playing $52 DON's, 11vpp per game and am on pace for Supernova with 600,000 vpps, imagine no school, the will to get something done, minimum of break even in sngs and play 10 hours a day. SNE!!!
It would be a ton of work though. just keep getting better at what you play, move up in levels, then who knows.
I was just like you 3 years ago thinking just supernova was impossible, i though that platinum was impossible at that time. now i just made platinum in 4-5 days. anything is possible.

209 players made SNE in 2009, 7200 made supernova.
my goal this year is to make Supernova 4x over.
assuming i can do this and move up a level and where i'm at in a year i might consider SNE. I lost $1600 in a prop bet last year trying to go for SNE, i wasn't ready.
To make it you need to move up in levels, be super comfortable with what you play, and be able to multitable a lot of sngs.
