Moving On Up

Today I got my money from Full Tilt. Its been a long time coming, and my patience has paid off. But I feel like its been a learning experience for sure, and playing the $3s have been good practice for me. I bumped up my roll an extra 10 buy ins and started work on the $6s.

I've joined PokerVT for probably a year and a half now, and I can say with confidence that it has helped me so much with my game. I am biased, but its the best one out there. Especially in terms of depth of content and the number of acclaimed pros on their site. As well as the forum, and technical videos helping you with your PT or HEM.

I think for a lot of people, it kinda hurts their pride to seek help. Its almost like failure in their minds, and its their biggest downfall. I got a lot of criticism for joining it from my friends, but its a decision I've never regretted. When I was playing for the first few years, I didn't know what I was doing. I didn't know why the same people would have huge stacks, and make the money. I would always be the super short stack, and get sucked out in some crazy way, not noticing that the guy was getting like 10-1 to make the a2c call. Its not just a site which tells you how to play poker, but more about how to think about poker. There are a few pros who do things differently, and the enthuses is NOT about "correct" poker but logical rational poker thinking.

I've decided that I'm gonna go for Platinum Star. Its gonna be a real challenge, I have to play at least 130 $6 SNGs a day. I'm gonna give it my best shot, and worst comes to worst, I'll just get a whole load of extra VPPs. Also, the past few days I've tried some HUDless sessions. And won. I think that using a HUD isn't essential if you have a solid game, but it does give you a slight edge, but not as big as I once thought. Things like how loose someone 3 bets, or steals are useful stats, but the majority of the time I'm looking at my hand, the stacks, and the blinds mainly. It only helps when making tough marginal situations.

I'm gonna try and avoid posting up hands in this blog, kinda bores me when other bloggers post something up and vent about how badly they played etc. Yada yada yada 3.2 to 1, 2 outer, 5% call, bad beat BOOOOORING!!!!! But, I'm feeling kinda generous and I will post up a hand if its as funny as this.
