Mixed Bag O' Nuts...

Double Blog! 2 for 1, in one day hooray!!

So I've been playing 12 x $6s and 6 x $16s (STT Turbos) sets for the past week or so, and getting a mixed bag of success. My $6s are up, but I'm having trouble getting the $16s win. So kinda breakin' even over my sets coz one is down and one is up. Strangely enough, I don't really notice much of a difference between the 2 different stakes, although I would say its a huge advantage for me to have that much extra info on my HUD since I've played so many $6s.

I definitely feel super comfortable at the $6s now, and even losing $100 sets don't bother me that much, coz I know I will get it back. Even today my first set was a loss of $150, but after grinding a few more I'm back to even. Last 2 days have been rough EV wise, pretty unlucky with my showdowns so far, but I'm not losing, which is great. Now I know I have definitely improved because I'm now losing small and winning big.

It has got me thinking into how important it can be to "give a little fear" to your games. What I mean is to make yourself play a little bit off your comfort zone, so that your always a little bit on edge. I'm referring to mixing in my $16s of course, and the jump is huge which makes the swings huge, but I think its a good thing to get that extra experience. I could easily grind the $6s only all day and be happy to crush, but I wanna get my roll up and get those vpp pts up too!

High Stakes Poker Season 6 is all finished and my final thoughts on it is........
that it sucked! LOL. Its still good, but imo its been with worst season so far. Its on par with the awful Poker After Dark now.

There were a lot of reasons that HSP wan't as good in my eyes, but here's what I think;

lets start with THE GOOD
- Durrr and Ivey ripping it. Good hand vs each other but really wanted to see the hero call by Ivey. No doubt the best 2 guys online and live. Peh!! Live players are terrible...
- Did you know was kinda cool I guess, Negreanu's pretty funny.
- Gabe Kaplin is the best commentator there ever is. Like an education when he talks through hands. Not like Poker After Dark where the guy is LITERALLY narrating what is happening which we see, but actually about what players are thinking, and what they could be thinking, and what they think the other players are thinking, and etc sudo circle train of thought!
- Kara Scott is nice eye candy I suppose.

THE BAD
- She is eye candy, but unfortunately that's all she is. Absolutely adds nothing great to the show. The interviews are ok, but meh, makes me cringe of the Poker After Dark style.
- AJ Benza and Gabe Kaplin banter is gone. And what a big gaping hole that is. Really, they were great together, and AJ really did give the Average Joe non Poker fanatic a bit of help by asking the type of questions a non player would ask. Its the biggest mistake of the HSP guys of all, even worse then calling 2 pf shoves before your with AJo! If it aint broke, then don't fix it...
- Lack of imagination. Imagination? I hear you repeating... What I mean is that there was no real spark to this season. Just sick players on paper playing a cash game. That's all it was. Season 1 was the precedent, season 2 was about Negreanu's $1 Million buy in, 3 Gabe Kaplin plays and the 72 game, 4 500k buy in, 5 Tom Dwan rapes all, 6 [???????]...
- Players playing scared as shit. Negreanu and Phil Galfond are the only guys that rebought, and everyone else that felted left. 200k suddenly seems a lot of money (it is) but who remembers Season 4??? One time non cash gamers who just wanna say "I was on High Stakes Poker"... yawn
- Negreanu constantly going after Dwan, despite never having a decent hand to start with. Honestly, really does look like he loses the foundations and the psychological edge when challenging Durrrr. He is unlucky but it is kinda self prophesizing too.
- Sammy Farha type players that induce action. Eli Elezra is good though.

Damn, I blog a lot! I'd better stop before the internet runs outta space. I'm tweeting too, so feel free to add and spy guys, peace out!!

lol at blogging a lot. this was a long one, i bearly watch HSP but good to know i don't need to go watch it i guess. i am pretty sure there are a ton of regs in the 16's you are playing. i don't play them but have before and it was infested with regs then.

yep yep! regs everywhere! but its ok, i've been trained and most of them are BAD regs so I can take advantage of that.
