Casino Donkfest Galore

I'm in Sheffield for a few days hanging out with a friend. Its kinda nice to get away from the usual surroundings and see how my friend lives his life. Of course, my laptop is insta-shipped also and I still expect myself to grind out my games. Its also going to be a mini experiment on how I can cope from playing my STTs on my small 15" screen without my external monitor, as I intend to do a lot of travelling this year - I've just booked a ticket to see my other friend who lives in Perth! So far so good!

Last night we went to the Grosvenor Casino in Sheffield, and I have to say their poker tables are the most laughable ever. But in saying that, its was very +EV tables as donks filled the table playing atc, and the tight players were as transparent as a glass window. However, to fully take advantage of this you have to get some hands and hit some boards. Which I didn't. But I still finished the session doubling my buy in, but I'm aware that my online SNG experiences make me probably too nitty to play these cash tables optimally. Its a whole different kettle of fish!

Some things made me "LOL" at the table;

1. Player bets outta turn, and his bet is voided as usual. Then player who was meant to go first bets 1, and states that the rules are now the out of turn better HAS to call the whatever she bets! All other players inc dealer agrees and the river is dealt... wtf lol

2. Dealer is counting dead buttons/small blinds as if we were playing a tournament.

3. Guy raises and gets like 5 callers, flop comes and player in sb insta open shoves his whole stack, like 3x the pot, and gets called. Both guys flopped straight.

4. Casino only rakes £20+ pots, and max rake takeout is £20. We are playing 1-1, so I have no idea how they expect to make that much money. Not that I'm complaining, coz its good value! I hear the roulettes raking in like £250 each spin nearby tho...

5. My friend (bless him!) open limps, then calls a reraise, then folds a 4 bet shove pf with like 2/3 his stack already in the pot. And would have won a massive pot.

It was fun to play some live poker tho, I haven't done so in a while and the people there were really friendly, which isn't the case with most poker rooms. I'm having a good time here, and hopefully I'll still keep crushing the STTs while I'm here.
