Wake me up when September ends!

September has not been kind to me. I don't think I have ever had a worse run on the poker tables in my 5 year poker career.

I played mostly on pokerstars and I was experimenting with playing 36 tables of 18/45/180 mans. I think I increased the number of tables I was playing too quickly, which lead to mistakes. That coupled with running atrociously has lead to my bad run.

I wanted to find out if I could make supernova elite next year just playing mtt sngs. I found out I could but my roi will be much lower if I do decide to go for it next year. I am not sure if it is worth it. Playing 36 tables at a time for 8 hours a day is a mental challenge. I think I could do it and manage a 3-4% roi in the turbo mtt sngs.

I had many days of playing 300+ sngs/day. So it can be done, but I am not sure if I want to do that. What do you guys think about going for supernova elite mass tabling mtt sngs?

Damn, that's too bad to hear mr pimpin'! Hope you run better in October!

I'm kinda surprised at your reluctance to play higher stakes to get those vpps if you wanna get SNE. I've heard you need something like 2500 vpp a day? Sure, the swings are bigger and fields are tougher, but surely it'd be better to get it from playing less tables and more of your quality plays in?

Gawd I wish I could go for the SNE. Heard from Dusty "leatherass" (cash grinder) that there's a ton of sweet perks that make it worthwhile to attain and maintain later on, even at the expense of reduced ROI.

Good luck with all!

Dude if you can still achieve a decent enough profit to live off playing that many tables then 100% go for SNE. You get entry into 3 $10k events of your choice, I believe. And not to mention the milestone cash rewards!

That is a good suggestion Puyan. The high stakes sngs now days are pretty tough but if they are being played someone is winning in them.

Yeah, guys I think you get over $100k in cash/mtt entries for SNE. That is tough to beat. I would have to make all that up in winnings on the tables to justify not going for it.

Be careful, and make sure you can pull a decent enough ROI. STARS VIP program is a bit of a scam. Rakeback can never make up for ROI profit.

I dont have a subscription to sharkscope anymore, but I believe Boku is breakeven at $27+.

Ive always respected your game, Ill see if youve become more exploitable playing 36 tables!

hey mark,if i was tryn it i wud play big stt sessions at the wkends, the $114 9 mans are unbeatable during the week, and i would play some $109 and $215 non turbo 9 mans aswell(any day of the week),they take the same length as an 18 man turbo and ur roi will be higher, that being said you make a lot of money as it is and ur comfortable at it,the pressure of maken x amount of vpps and playing high stakes with big money swings brings a lot of stress,gl with whatever u choose

There are a lot of factors to consider. I have been looking at some of the high stakes stt players profit for 2010 and the swings they have are sick ($50k up and downs in a month). Some are right around breakeven for the year, not including rakeback. Rakeback can be around $200k for the year for them though. Thanks for all the input so far.

Hi Mark,

I can't stand downswings of 4-5K.. You seem to be having a bigger than 20-25K downswing if I'm not mistaken.. Hope u find the courage to keep playing good - if not it should be time for a vacation!

Better luck m8!

PS: One time I was on a bad run I made a Java program in wich I input the number/ type of tourneys I play per day and the number of days I play per month and the program produces the probability distribution of winnings in given periods (e.g. a day, a month, a year etc..). This is a good tool to understand variance, to make predictions of winnings and to choose the best type of games for the most winnings and/or smaller variance. For me the day/month/year distribution is something like the one below.. Do you thing this kind of tool could interest other players?

Lefti

lefti, yeah that tool sounds very useful. I would be interested in checking that out. Is it an easy to use program? If you want to share it with me you can email me at PimpinDonks@gmail.com
