Vegas!!

So I am in Vegas right now, for the next 3 weeks. I entered my first wsop tournament yesterday. We started with 4500 chips and there were 2394 entrants. The buyin was $1500 no limit holdem. I survived my first day!

The tournament currently has 288 players left and the average stack is 37,400. I have 53,900 chips and 243 get paid. So I have a very good shot at cashing in my first wsop tournament.

This is a 3 day tournament. Surviving the second day will be tough as the field is filled with much tougher competition. Carlos Mortensen is among the chip leaders.

I will keep you guys updated as I am in vegas in this blog entry if you want to know how I am doing here.

It's no easy task to cash at the WSOP, let alone in your first event ever... so my congrats go out to BigPimpinDonks on his cash in event #30.

139 Mark Schmid $3,490

gl man, pimpin aint easy

Hey guys, thanks for the support. I appreciate it! I did cash for $3490. My final hand was pocket sevens. I had 10 BB's and with a raise in front of me I shoved and he called with JJ. I am happy to min cash my first wsop tournament though.

I think the next tournament I will play will be the $1000 no limit holdem on saturday. I will play some cash games in the mean time. I have played a couple hours of cash games so far just passing time while waiting for the tournament to start. The cash games here are very good. I am up a good bit on them already just in a couple of hours.

GL bro

gl

Thanks guys!

I busted out of the $1000 nl tournament in level three on a coin flip. I shoved with 66 and only 8 BB's and got called by Q9. There is not much time for post flop play in these tournaments if you don't chip up early.

I just won a $12,000 main event package on stars, in there 200 package guarantee tournament. So I will be playing the big one obviously. The structure in the main event is better so hopefully I can chip up early.

Nice work Pimpin! Good luck in the big one!!

I just got done with a long day in event 39. It is a $1,500 nl shootout format. So the tournament is basically like playing a single table sng. That is right up my alley, with me being an sng instructor!

Anyways, my table was the last table done, after 9 hours of play I won it. So I come back tomorrow to play another round this time with the winners from the other tables. So it will probably be tougher competition. Although, today was pretty tough. There were a few very good players at my table. I have locked up $5,632 so far and who knows what will happen in the next round!

good work !! just wodnering do u mind sharing us your thoughts on what edges you think u have in that live game ? or what you were able to take advantage of ?

Contrats pimpin, lets hope ur first wsop title is soon to come. How did u learn to gain ur edge? did any specific book help?

Hey guys, I drew an extremely tough table for the second round. 9 of the 10 players were professional players. I finished 4, so I didn't advance to the next round.

The small buyin wsop tournaments from my experience so far play like a $50 to $100 mtt online. There are some pros but a good mix of donks also. So for $1k to $3k buyins it is a pretty good deal. If it were $1k to $3k online tournaments it would be a substantially tougher field. The wsop brand attracts a lot of fish. So I think if I played 1000's of wsop tournaments over the long run my roi would be 75% to 125%. Of course it is not possible to play 1000's of wsop tournaments, so it is a gamble to put up these buyins and hope luck doesn't go against you.

No specific book stands out that had a great impact on my game. It is just a culmination of years of playing and learning from various sources including books, videos and forums.

Hey Guys, I have completed 5 wsop tournaments so far. I busted out of my last 2 before the money. So I have cashed in 2 out of 5 so far this trip.

I made it thru day 1 of event 47 ($1000 nl). There are 2 starting days in this event so I continue Monday. I have a little over 18,000 in chips. We started with 3,000 chips. The big blind is at 600, so I have about 30 BB's. I'll let you guys know what happens on my next post.

Another min cash for me. I have cashed in 3 out of 6 now but all min cashes thus far. I think there is only 1 more tournament I will play in before the main event.

That's not a bad cash rate! By min cash how much did you actually profit in each one? Is it like 2x buyin or how much? Enough to be profit out of all 6 hopefully. Still anticipating the new videos, you said they've been done for a while. Is this site just inactive now? Haven't seen many new videos at all lately. I have credits and are ready to purchase yours when they are released ^_^

I am up a little bit when the tournament buyins are subtracted. So if I cash in the main event I will be up huge for the trip, since I got in to that on a satellite using fpps I am freerolling basically for the trip.

The site is waiting for me to make more of the videos. They are also working on a new design for the new video series. I haven't been able to work much on the videos, since I have been in vegas. I have gotten 2 more done but have been very busy here. I think I have done a total of 14 videos of 33 topics we want to cover. So I am not even half way done. The site is pretty active with the forums. This video series will generate a lot of activity on the video side.

Nice. I hope you cash in the main event. Or make the nov 9 =D

Sounds like you are doing really well out there Smile . Good luck in the main event and congratulations on your cashes. Smile

Thanks Sherfy and pocketgrinder!

I am playing my first day in the main event on July 7th. I will let you guys know what happens.

Yeah let us know how you do =D I just noticed on here in the top right it has Pimpndonks SNG Guide link. You can purchase the whole program right now it says. Are some of the videos available to watch right now if I do that? Or just the intro videos are up right now?

I made it through day 1 of the Main Event! It was an up and down day for me. I got drawn out on a few times and also drew out on my opponents a couple of times. Anyways, we started with 30,000 in chips and I ended the day with 60,875.

So going in to day 2 I should have an above average stack. There is still 1 more starting day. So I will play on July 9th next for day 2A. I have heard that to make the money you have to get to day 4 so I still have a long road ahead.

Sherfy, honestly I have not been in contact recently with the sharkscope staff about the videos so I am not sure what is going on.

GL on Day 2, Mark!

Sherfy, I just purchased the package, and so far 7 out of 34 videos are available to watch.

Thanks Don!

Sweet. Hope you do well on day 2! As for the video series how much is it geared toward mtt sngs? As that is what I play. I already do decent in them, but want to take my game to the next level. I'm hoping this will extremely useful to do that. Are there many live play videos in it?

Day 2 of the Main Event was a tough one for me. The best pair I saw the entire day was TT and that hand one of my opponents had QQ. So I survived the day but am down to 40,400 in chips.

The big blind is 1000 currently so I need to get some chips to stay above the pushing allin mode. I haven't been allin yet and hope not too!

I played with world champ Joe Cada today. He was on my immediate left and 3 bet me twice. I folded both times with marginal holdings. It is amazing how many cameras and media people swarm him.

Sherfy, the video series has specific videos on mtt sngs. For example, the final table video. The videos are designed to improve your play in any type of sng. There will be a couple of live play videos, but I think most players learn more from videos on specific topics with hand examples to back up the points I am making. The live play videos are more entertaining, but to maximize your winnings I suggest watching a mixture of the lecture videos and live play.

Hey Pimpin

I was just wondering what you thought of Joe Cadas play? And from what i have seen on tv shows he has played in,i feel his play isnt up to some of the other players standards. I feel that he was pretty lucky to win. I just wondered what your opinion of him is. I understand you may not be able to comment on here, so i would be happy for you to email it me.

gud luck for day 3

Speedy2833

Oh yeah I already purchased the series now and will be planning on watching all of them, it was just hard to tell from the titles if there were any live play videos. I hope to learn a lot from these! I've done well in the past in the 45 mans, haven't played much since january though. Just started running a bap for these games today for with 2k starting roll. Played 1 session so far for a few hundred profit.

I hope you do better day 3! Whenever that may be =D

I finished Day 3 of the Main Event. I moved up to 126,200 in chips. It was a solid day for me and I look forward to Day 4 tomorrow. There are 1240 players left and 747 get paid. If things go well for me on day 4 I will make it into the money.

speedy2833, I only played with Joe Cada for about 2 hours so I don't know much about his game. What I did see though looked to be pretty solid.

Thanks Sherfy I appreciate it!

well done mark, keep up the good work,ur in great shape for a deep run!!

You outlasted Joe Cada. He busted yesterday. Keep playing solid!

Thanks Dave and Don. The big blind is 2400, so I only have 50 BBs but that isn't to bad for this stage of the tournament.

Really nice job so far, must be so awesome to be playing the main event.

If i ended up ever playing it and got so far as day 3 there'd be no end to my bragging about it... to get to day 4 with a solid stack is quite something!

Give a shout out to Dan Harrington if you see him today, I've got a prop bet with a friend and my chances are riding on him cashing... :P

GL Mark! You can do it!

Hmmm, I know this is a bit off topic, but was wondering if you video series covers STT SNGs, or is it specific to MTTs?

My Main Event run is over, unfortunately. I shoved with 13 BBs from middle position with AK and was called by 99. My opponent won the coinflip and I am out just before the money.

It is so sick to lose a coinflip right before the money in the main event. It cost me over $34,000 to lose that coinflip, with the prize money and pca package pokerstars gives to players for cashing if you win a seat through their site.

The video series covers all sng types, puyan.

Christ that's rough - i know how pissy I can be if I bust some "big" online tournament on the bubble after something like 3 hours... so it must really hurt after almost 4 days o__o. Not going to insult your intelligence by going through the whole "you played it right" spiel, you know exactly how it all works better than most (including me) so all I will say is GJ getting so far! You must've been really on your game to even get to day 4, let alone be deep enough into it to find yourself shoving AK on the bubble.

There's always next year, or the next sick online MTT for you to take down, or even the months of grinding STTs and making a killing, etc... life's not so bad :P

That sucks Mark! Sorry to hear that bro...

But on the flip-side... you did cash in like 3 other events & you basically free-rolled into the Main Event, sooooo not a bad start for your first series.

Keep your head up and continue to crush online.... There is always next year.

Good Job!

You shoulda stalled as long as you could before making that push, and maybe a few guys might have busted and you woulda made the money! j/k Not too bad a result for your first main event. You gained some valuable experience, and I'm sure you'll make a deep run next year.

Yeah thanks guys it is disappointing but I made what I thought was the best play and it didn't work out. If I had to do it again I would make the same push. There is always the next tournament as you guys say.

well done Pimpin`!!!

Great run Pimpin! Proud of your live achievements.. at this rate should be on way to big prizes Smile

Maybe some day. At this point though I am still a grinder.

Hey Mark how have you been surviving by not playing online? All the best to you and yours sir!!

It has been very different from what I am used to doing for the past 6 years. I'm looking forward to playing online again but the break from it has been nice to have.

I am back in Michigan now and plan to leave for another country in a couple of months to play online again.
