PKR & Pocket A's

/rant on

PKR has to be the worst site for a player with a brain.

I'm mid-position with bullets early on, playing into a pot for the first time in a $5 DoN.

1 or 2 limpers before me on blinds of 10/20. I just call the BB/20 flat, looking to take a few players into a flop to give some a chance to make a hand that'll be good for the pot. Everyone else folds to SB.

SB raises to 4BB (80), BB calls - the other PF limpers fold.

I raise to 12BB (240).

SB shoves, and the BB is along for the ride, calling. I'm never putting AA down pre-flop - call me insane :P

I call.

Au'Revoir PKR

Been playing over at PKR for over 6 months, but my experience of the place just isn't positive enough to continue playing there.

Bye PKR - it was fun for awhile.

Losing 2/3rds of my bankroll due to little more than the consistent delivery of perverse rivers and blank pockets for almost 3 weeks without relent, isn't how I want to spend my leisure time.

Cashed out what was left of my roll tonight and I won't ever deposit my hard-earned there again.

Dry-ball NLHE

It's been a pretty bad run over on PKR since that little win I picked up a coupla weeks ago.

Currently taking the worst beating I think I've ever had, at the moment and it's not through what I'd consider bad or loose/leaky play.

Tonight for example :

Mini-primetime on PKR - 6 seater MTT. 3k starting chips, 12 min extended blinds.

PKR : Atlantis Deep Stack

Ran really well in the Atlantis Deep Stack over on PKR tonight.

Checked out in 4th, taking $148 with me Smile

First two hours were pretty dry with my stack never rising more than 20% from the starting 10k. Hung in there though and just picked the right pots.

Key thing in the longer format I think, is to only invest a significant number of your chips if you know you're creating an opportunity for other players to make a mistake.

This is Origin : Not quite the start....

Well, hi to all and I hope the flamers go easy on what is my first foray into the poker blogosphere.

A little about my game history first, is a good place to start I guess.

I've been playing poker for fun for a few years on MSN/zone.com (Play money ~ NLHE/8-seat). Purely recreational and I guess yeah - totally different play style to the real-money game.

As you might expect with no cash on the line, those games were brimming with bad play and a lot of donking. I'm loss averse, so that's where I formed my habit of being super patient and developed an uncanny sense of timing.
