Abarone68 and Yogadude

Strangely enough this blog is about the two players mentioned in the title. For those of you that dont know these two players are regs in the games I play (9man $16 turbos) and in my personal opinion are the two best players at these games. Not just coz they have two of the highest hourly rates, but because of their unorthodox play. I have so much respect for people who create their own rules and don't play by the book. I would like to think I'm an unorthodox player as well. Don't get me wrong this is no insult to those regs who do play by the book, because 'the book' works as well. But to be able to play outside the book is where the true genius lies.

Yogadude is a decent reg and plays 20 tables, which I would say is low for a good reg at these games. But his average profit makes up for this. He has by far the highest average profit per table out of all the players on that leaderboard. This is due to his 'weird' play and table selecting. Don't take weird as bad, its quite the opposite. He does some crazy ass moves, that when they are against me, has me cursing at the screen because at the time Im thinking thats completely stupid and retarded. But once I've calmed down and review the hand history I can see logic to his madness.

Abarone68 is one of the only regs who doesn't use a HUD (not sure about yogadude, fair play if you don't) and tiles the tables. This dude doesn't have the luxury of table selecting due to 40tabling! Whilst still mainting a solid average profit per table is absolutely insane. I can 40 table, but there is no way I could keep up an average profit per table anywhere near his.

So there are two completely different, unorthodox styles that achieve the best results at those games, which I am in awe of. Its just great to see how different styles both obtain excellent profit. Keep up the good work you unorthodox players! And orthodox also!

... he doesn't use a HUD? wat. why not?

I don't use one either Smile I prefer not to have one because I tile as well. 35tables + HUD attached to everyone looks messy. Also thats when your comp starts to struggle with hud and stars open unless you got a mofo of a PC.

I play more straight up than you think. As a matter of fact I am looking to avoid confrontations with the good players because I know when I lose chips to them they will be difficult to get back.

I also liked the way you played that KJ against me when I raised the button with K10 and the flop came K J x . Leading out is the way to play this hand against strong players instead of going for the check-raise because a good player will call your check-raise and then most likely fold to your turn bet so you wont get paid off. I guess I was hoping you had Q10 or K9 suited but that really is too small of a range for me to commit to this hand. If I was paying attention I would of just called flat-called the flop and hoped to get to the river without going broke during level 1!

You need to stop cursing at your computer. Make it your number one goal to dissociate yourself from the actions of your opponents and your results. Otherwise you will not think clearly. You will get better at this as you get older btw. I've been playing this stupid game since 1996 and know exactly how you feel.

i know a lot of players including myself that dont use HUDS. when u have good notes u dont need an hud

HUDs are not for everyone and its not essential. In fact, using a HUD properly is a skill in itself. I use one, I love the extra info that I can get on my opponents, which I feel gives me an edge in the quality of my games over the volume.
