2010 so far

I've been having terrible problems with my broadband (no internet 9 days so far in 2010 at home) but I've finally got it sorted after lots of swearing at the rather inept staff AOL seem to employ in their Indian calls centres.

So hopefully I'll be able to play a bit more.

Had a good start to the year on Stars when I actually have been able to play.

I continue to ask myself why don't you make a level-up... you told me you want poker to be a hobby, to be just for fun... but I continue to think that it could be a hobby the same... just a more profitable one, with much more fun Wink

What is your name and age?

Giusnun, you're right I do need to move up. I'm slowly doing it. I'm playing more tournies in the 20-36$ range at the moment. My average stake is only $13 as I've also been playing $5 and $12 SNGs in attempts to get a diamond average profit leaderboard star.

My name's Landsbanki Smile Big and I'm 42. Probably older than most on here.

Well, nice name Smile I'm 37... not so far...
Listen... I'd like to know (if you want to say it) wich is the main difference between your strategy and Pimpindonk's one.

I haven't actually looked at any of pimpindonks training videos etc. So I couldn't say how our strategy might differ on the tables. Hopefully not by very much looking at his stats Smile Big

The one way I know we do differ is in the choice of tourney type. I prefer 6-seat turbos (but do mix up what I play), he plays 45 and 90 seaters. If I were a pro I'd definitely play mainly 6-seat turbos to get a more much consistent income stream. I suspect that a good player could make more $/hour playing the 9-seat turbos you play, but the variance is a bit higher but nothing compared to MTTs. You can certainly make a good living on 6-seat turbos as sparta45 is proving on stars.

I'd like to discuss some strategic questions with you, but if you don't want to do it I'll comprehend. What about exchanging 3 or 4 won tourns' hand histories by email? This way we would have some stuff to analyze and compare, trying to find strategic differences and, mostly, to cut out (my) mistakes.
I repeat, if you don't want to do it there will be no problem at all.

Sounds good to me. I'm at work at the moment so can't access Stars Sad - I'll see what HHs I can dig out this evening.

Impressiv stats so far mate, wots ur roll? With that ROI multi-tabling a lot u can boost ur roll in no time, wow...

Cheers doomdy! Overall I'm about 3.5K up on Stars. I generally play 3 or 4 tables at a time but. Anymore and my ROI plummets plus it ceases to be fun. You just become a robot rather than a poker player. I prefer to play few enough tables to learn my opponents strategies to try to outwit them. I'm also limited to about 10hrs playing time a week.

I'm trying to play more in the $20-36 range to boost the roll.

Things are still going well for 2010 on Stars.

Games played 87
Average Profit $7.71
Average Stake $14
Mean ROI 40%
Total Profit $671

Get a dongle as a backup internet connection, they're well worth the money especially playing at your higher stakes.
