Landsbanki's blog

I'm back after a long lay off from poker

Hello sharkscopers

I'm back for my first blog entry in ages. I usually don't play poker during the summer. This year I stopped playing mid-April to Mid-October. Gotta make use of daylight when we actually get it in Scotland. Several months of gloom and poker now follow.

I was going to continue my run at the 2.5-5$ average profit 5-6 Holdem Turbo leaderboard. Unfortunately Cereus have scrapped their 5$ 6-seater turbos. ARGGGG!

My stats were
LANDSBANKI Games 227 AV Prof +$1.72 ROI 31% Total Profit $390

Difficulty moving up

My stats at lower stakes are very good and several people have told me to move up stakes. I agree with them and made a real effort to try to do this this year. Unfortunately it's been unsuccessful.

Here's my global stats (Stars and AP) at three different buy-in ranges.

<10$
Games Played 1200
Average Profit $1.65
Average Stake $5
ROI 32%

$10-15
Games Played 573
Average Profit $4.02
Average Stake $12
ROI 31%

$20+
Games Played 241
Average Profit $0.15
Average Stake $26
ROI -1%

Including rakeback I make about
$1.85 per 5$ game
$4.40 per 12$ game
$1 per 23$ game

Leaderboard run - 200 games in

Haven't posted for a while.

I've tried to switch from my leaderboard runs to maximising profit but I've made less when concentrating on profit rather than my leaderboards. So I've gone back to them for a while.

I'm now 202 games into my run at the Holdem 5-6 seater turbo $5 average profit leaderboard using my Cereus account.

I'm making $1.75 a game with an ROI of 32%. Currently the platinum star holder is going at $1.61 a game so I'm on schedule for a platiunum star. Have reached second before on an average profit leaderboard but never top spot.

Half way through Feb and the move up is going well

Not getting time to play enough. Usually can only manage one or two 45 minute sessions per day 3-tabling the $25 and $39 6-seater turbos.

So far this month it's going well with an ROI similar to what I can maintain at the lower stakes.

Games played 61
Average Profit $7.61
ROI 28%
Total $464

Moving up

My aim for this month was to stop going for my low stakes average profit leaderboard runs and instead see if I can move up on the 6-seater turbos.

My lower stakes ROIs/av profits on Stars for 6-seater turbos have been:

$3 500 played ROI 27% $0.86 profit per game
$6 102 played 44% $2.89
$12 405 played 27% $3.54

I've also played 184 $5 games on Cereus at 34% making $1.84 per game.

So I've been trying the $23 and $36 tables on Stars

Here's how it's going

$23 23 played 28% $7.10
$36 13 played 28% $10.85

Bad night - very grumpy

AOL packed up on me with $81 worth of tournies running.

Then eventually I got it back played two more a $23 6-seater which I won and a $23 9-seater which I was second and sharkscope hasn't tracked either. I finished them over 90 minutes ago - I've not known the scope fail to track a Stars tourney in years let alone 2 at once.

So my stats for the month say I'm -$131 dollars when actually I'm only -$31 or so. And I lost $81 due to AOL being hopeless.

January 2010

Well a pretty good month overall.

Up $628 (including Cereus winnings) plus sitting joint second in the DoN competition which I guess is worth $150 (??).

I've played 100 tournies on Stars making $5.65 per game with an ROI of 34%
So if I had reset my stats at the start of the year I'd have a shark symbol. I'd didn't of course as I would lose my gold star.

I've tried to play more tables in the $23-36 range.

I played 30 making $5.35 as game with a 9% ROI.

In the $5-15 range where I usually play I notched up 69 tables making $5.78 with an ROI of 45%.

Leaderboard Run

It's a been a while since I did any leaderboard run updates.

I've reached 100 games in my attempt to get on the $5.01-$15 6-seater Holdem Normal Speed Average Profit leaderboard.

I started playing about 50 $6 games and then switched to the $12 tables. It's obvious on the graph where i switched.

I'm going at $3.49 per game with an ROI of 35%. This would just sneak me on the leaderboard in 20th. However, I'm making nearly 5$ a game on the $12 tables which would push me up into 2nd so I won't play anymore $6 games.

2010 so far

I've been having terrible problems with my broadband (no internet 9 days so far in 2010 at home) but I've finally got it sorted after lots of swearing at the rather inept staff AOL seem to employ in their Indian calls centres.

So hopefully I'll be able to play a bit more.

Had a good start to the year on Stars when I actually have been able to play.
