Hello, I am writing and updating my progress to improve my focus and analysis upon my bankroll build challenge. Even though i've had success in the past, i have usually ended up losing my winnings due to bad bankroll management. Therefore the purpose of these blog entrys is too maintain my strict new management rules and hopefully recieve advice during my journey. I'm hoping that when i master the management techniques, i can escalate my challenges from 1k - 5k etc. All advice is welcome please as it would be a great help.

I will be playing $6 sngs, and any tournaments (rebuys) from $2 - $5. My rough guidelines are based upon the 5% rule so i will be increasing the stakes as i move up.

I will be updating every week... Thanks for reading, this post may be boring.. but bare with me as i will hopefully be posting about exciting tourny wins in the weeks to come :p

So gl me, and gl everyone else - Please comment with any management tips that have helped you achieved ur goals

Good luck!

Wow you've got $100 and youre playing rebuy tournaments? Really?

If you want to play $5+R with a $100 bankroll then be prepared to kiss it goodbye very quickly.

Even a $4.40 non rebuy tournament is horrible bankroll management with your bankroll. You barely have a roll to play anything. To put it in perspective: I have around $700 and don't consider myself rolled for $6 sngs.

yeaa.. woops sry, i didn't quite put it into context properly....

biggest rebuys ill be playing are $2.. $3 tops. but $5 non rebuy tourny isnt too bad to play. ill be grinding a lot of sngs nd hoping to get some decent profit, so they should cover some buy ins. thanks for the advice though, ill bare it in mind Smile

I assume since you're differentiating "SNG" and "tournament" that by $5 tournaments you mean multi-tables?

These have extremely high variance and it wouldnt be entirely untoward for you to bust 20 in a row (your bankroll). Similarly, in SNGs, going for a $6 level to begin with is madness considering downswings can go as deep as 25 BIs.

hi, i started with a $100 b.r. and started grinding in the $5.5 games. thats about 18 buy ins and id say if i did it again id start with 30 buy ins for the low stakes. cuz the competition is very week and can be beat with veeery tight play. the downswings wont be big down there...i grinded up to 100-120 buy ins for the next level before i moved up and i think thats important to do cuz the players will improve and you will be spending money on just learning the new moves of better players. 9 months later ive got 130 $55 buy ins and the money is finally coming faster. i hope to be at the $109 by april. i play 9 handed non turbos by the way. i hope that gives you a better understanding of a bank roll.
p.s. my biggest downswing was 32 buy ins for over 2500 tourneys so having 100 buy ins does really help mental stress and you can move on to the next day much easier.

Thanks veruy much guys, this is very useful. I'm going to start with $2 sngs. Just wondering what do you find most profitable? 9 handed or 6 handed? turbos non turbos? nd how many do you play at a time?

thanks very much Smile
