Focusing on SNGs

What's up. Name's Graham. Been working on Super Turbo 6-Max SNGs on Merge. Playing them pretty well, running slightly about expectation (but that's fine haha). Just trying to get use to taking notes on my own progress and what not, regardless if anyone cares. Deuces.

So your the one I probably always see filling up the mid/high stakes ST's lol. I've always been scared to grind those because of the variance that comes with it. Just curious, what were you grinding before you moved to Merge?

haha, ya, I start a lot of the $36's especially during the day time, I get a decent amount of help from like 5 eastern time til 12.

The variance can be redic. I lost like 8-10 buyins alone yesterday and remember getting it in with the other crushed at least 7 times.

A-Paint loses to A-Rag, pocket pairs don't hold against someone with one over...

but when you get hot, it's fun.

I was more of a tournament player on Stars and Tilt, and actually used Black Friday to make me more serious about the game, BR management, finding a game I can crush regularly, etc.

Congrats on getting serious about the game. I'm kind of in a similar situation. This year I took off a semester of college to really focus on my game, plug my leaks, and find a specific game to focus on like yourself.

Had a decent start to the year grinding low/mid stakes STT SNG, then BF happened. I transitioned to the merge network, grinding STT with decent success (kinda small sample). Then I realized how small the MTT fields are on Merge and set out to crush those about 2 weeks ago. In those 2 weeks I'm up $7k+ from MTT. But I've learned that I need to find the right mixture of STT and MTT to eliminate the swings. Still haven't found that perfect mix yet, but working on it lol.

Where abouts are you in Indiana? Lebanon here, like 15 minutes NW of naptown.

yea, you listed the reasons I want to try some MTTs on Merge. I'm sitting here staring at tonight's High Roller thinking that it's guarantee is for only 40 people....very tempting to play haha.

I started on Merge with some cash game coaching, luckily finishing all that right before PTR started tracking Merge, and now I'm just trying to fly up the graph. My BR mgmt isn't "strict" right now, but compared to the past it is. If I see an opponent in a HU that I think I can easily handle, and it's outta my roll, I'll still take a shot at it.

South side of Fishers, so not to far from you.
