Why I am confident despite last results
Many people are asking me why I am so confident with my new semi-pro career despite my last results. They say I made a big mistake going in part-time, halving my salary. They say "I told you, poker cannot be an earning source".
Since I've gone semi-pro, I have lost 4000€ (=5380$) in less than a month.
They seem to be right to tell me that I made a big mistake... they seem also right to suggest me to abandon poker and to ask for full-time job again (and full salary).
So, why am I so confident about poker and my semi-pro career? Why do I think that this 3 weeks have been just a temporary downswing? Why do I think that before summer I will not only regain what I have lost, but I'll have reached 20000€ earnings (including bonus)?
The answer is into these 2 graphs:

As you can see, the before graph is much more significative than the after graph, because the sample is 4 times greater (and it's not so old, less than 2 months ago). This means that, for me, having a 9% ROI it's 4 times more likely than having a -18% ROI.
The real problem is to find the cause of such a downswing and, above all, to find the cure.
I am confident I've found both. Next weeks we'll see if I am right...

I don't like using software, most of all at high stakes. They all use it (or play as they were using it), so I must play differently. I am pretty sure this is the way I was crushing tables till january... and I never used any software. Recently I started using TableNinja just to automatically register and open tables, but that's all.
Now that I reduced multitabling factor from 16x to 8x, I wouldn't need TableNinja anymore... I just keep on using it because I've bought it. Moreover, it works only on PokerStars, so on Full Tilt I don't use anything but my hands and my head. I just hope to play using them again on PokerStars too... I'll let you know.
i dont think its absolutley neccesary to use a hud such programs but i feel that sometimes its good to review your hands in SNG wizard.. just so you have something to refer to ... stats... and mathematically correct plays. i say this from personal experience.. cause it has plug some leaks i had.... and it showed me where i should shove more... and because of those leaks.. i saw differences in profits... i mean put it this way... either im running so hot or my game has being brought to the next level

All you said is true, but at lower limits. At those limits there are people playing bad and having a negative ROI, so who plays in a math-correct way wins and has a positive ROI. At higher limits, where quite everyone plays a math-poker, the ROIs of many pros are close to 0%... indeed many of them just play for rakeback/bonus. If you want to enhance your poker at those limits you have to play trying to use other abilities (reading opponents, bluffing, stealing, adapting...) rather than just math. That's why all the regulars never play against Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey, Patrick Antonius... it would be a match between a robot and a genius, and we all already know the results.
haaa funny man, patrik looks like the terminator in my opinion... but i think in the long run the maths of the game will prove to have some value on your game, the problem is you will just remember the time when u have lost... in any case i dont doubt the fact, you have to more less mathematically to have more of an edge in the higher games... at the same time just dont fgorget the BASICS

Purtroppo no, amico.
Ho invertito la rotta (soprattutto su FT), ma il risultato globale resta pessimo.
Adesso tutto si decide in aprile. A breve dovrei diventare Supernova e prendere dei bonus coi quali conto di recuperare tutto e di portarmi di nuovo intorno ai 16mila euro di guadagno complessivo, cioè come stavo a febbraio.
A te come vanno le cose?
Caro Giusnunz, se ti ricordi sono uno dei primi che ti ha fatto gli auguri e che osserva i tuoi risultati con interesse perché adoro la gente che si mette degli obiettivi nella vita e si prende dei rischi per raggiungerli però se mi permetti secondo me hai fatto un grossissimo errore ed è quello di metterti degli obiettivi di guadagno. Il tuo unico obiettivo quando giochi a poker è quello di fare meno errori possibili e di prendere le decisioni matematicamente migliori per il lungo periodo, studiare per migliorare e cercare un volume di gioco che ti permetta di giocare il tuo A game e ti faccia evitare il tilt come la peste.
Mettersi degli obiettivi monetari è controproducente sotto tutti i punti di vista sia che tu li raggiunga (appagamento che non va d'accordo con studiare per migliorarsi) sia che tu non li raggiunga (depressione scoramento e quindi tilt) inoltre hai un campione numerico di games su cui tu basi il calcolo del tuo roi atteso troppo basso e inaffidabile.
Inoltre se continui a negare l'importanza dell'approccio matematico nel gioco credo che purtroppo potresti doverti trovare ad affrontare ancora tanti periodi difficili.
Cmq continuo ad augurarti di raggiungere il tuo sogno e ti seguo sempre.

Jennings... così come tu adori la gente che si pone obiettivi e si prende dei rischi, io adoro la gente che dà consigli spassionati... quindi apprezzo tantissimo quello che mi dici. Come prima cosa ti dico che hai ragione su tutto. Ti dico però che forse sono stato impreciso io in due cose... cioè... quello che è apparso non è quello che intendevo.
- Gli obiettivi monetari (il cosiddetto poker plan) avevano il solo scopo di permettermi di valutare se era il caso di mettermi in part-time oppure no. Per quel tipo di scelta avevo per forza bisogno di quantificare... non avrei potuto prendere alcuna decisione, altrimenti.
- Il gioco matematico è la base di tutto. Ai bassi/medi livelli l'ho sempre messo in atto (a parte gli errori, ovviamente) e ho avuto ottimi risultati. Agli alti livelli non dico che non serve a niente... dico solo che vanno apportate delle piccole modifiche, altrimenti ci si trova a fare tutti lo stesso gioco (ai 100€ i polli son veramente pochi) e si ha un ROI pari a zero.
In ogni caso ripeto: tutto quello che hai scritto ha molto senso e mi vede d'accordo al 95%... a fine aprile ti dirò se avrai avuto ragione anche su quel restante 5% 
thats so sick man ... if we use $30 as your average stake thats a 100 buy in swing over 500 games..personally im already paining over 30 games...
do you use SNG wizard of a HUD problem ? i find Sng wizard helps alot in pluggin leaks here and there.. and using a HUD is just nice to see what kind of hands your ending your tourneys with ... plus a good way to evaluate your game as an observer..
