The 3000 euro bonus is so nice

Finally I cleared the 3000€ bonus. All the bonuses from Pokerstars.it are nice, but this is the nicest (leaving apart Supernova Elite players)... What I love most are the positive effects of such bonuses on the profit graph. Look at the difference between my graph without the bonuses and my graph including them Smile

Back in the blog

Hi guys... so long I don't post something. Several things happened meanwhile: I finally decided to use Hold'em Manager to analyze my bad results and I had the confirmation that I had been very unlucky lately... but I have also found that I had been very lucky before, when I was winning so much. So I realized I can't stay at 100€ tables anymore: too many regulars, too big swings, too low ROI.

Re-starting from scratch

Well... after a good period of eight months in which I have studied, blogged, discussed and played well, making €15700 ( = $21000) including bonus, I seem to have suddenly turned into a bad player. In just six weeks I have wasted one third of my winnings. Bad luck, bad beats, tilt, poor discipline, massive multitabling, too high level and no more study are the main causes.

Full Tilt Poker parenthesis

Recently I've been playing on Full Tilt Poker since they offered to me a $500 bonus. These are the results:

Full Tilt Poker (11 mar 2010 -> 2 apr 2010)

  • avg stake: $24
  • played: 550
  • roi: 9%
  • profit: $1,287

So, I've earned $1787, which have reduced my losses on Pokerstars.it.
That's fine Smile

2nd month semi-pro (April 2010)

Steps through April 2010:

  1. Several positive sessions, good ROI.
  2. So sick! I just finished a session full of bad beats and my 10%+ ROI has suddenly turned negative (as my profit). I feel so unlucky. The good news are that now I'm a Supernova.
  3. Another unlucky session. I really don't know what to do.
  4. A positive session. It's strange.
  5. I think I've forgotten how to play.

1st month (semi-pro)

My first month is over. It's been so far the worst month since I started playing poker (jan 2008). I've never lost so much money as I did in march.

Pokerstars.it (1 mar 2010 -> 31 mar 2010)

  • avg stake: $46
  • played: 1000
  • roi: -11.24%
  • profit: -$5,721

I have discussed the causes with many friends/bloggers and I won't repeat them here... I'll just try to never make the same mistakes anymore (and I hope to be a little more lucky too).
On the next post I'll write my stats for april and I'll update them daily.

Why I am confident despite last results

Many people are asking me why I am so confident with my new semi-pro career despite my last results. They say I made a big mistake going in part-time, halving my salary. They say "I told you, poker cannot be an earning source".
Since I've gone semi-pro, I have lost 4000€ (=5380$) in less than a month.
They seem to be right to tell me that I made a big mistake... they seem also right to suggest me to abandon poker and to ask for full-time job again (and full salary).

3rd week (semi-pro)

Another negative week on PokerStars, but a positive one on Full Tilt:

My previous poker plan has been terminated. Now I'm going to plan another one. Anyway, this week I have studied some strategic changes, based both on the opponents and on my nature. They seem to have been profitable on Full Tilt. Next week I'll test them on PokerStars, hoping that Spring will bring good news and good money Smile

2nd week (semi-pro)

The second week has been worst than the first!
These are the stats:

  • buyin:50€ played:147 ROI:-20.75% income:-1525.07€
  • buyin:30€ played:180 ROI:-14.56% income:-786.04€
  • total * played:327 ROI:-18.13% income:-2311.11€

It's clear that it's not just variance... there has to be something more... much more! Before I lose all, I immediately must change my plan by three ways:

  • reducing multitabling
  • forgetting about FPPs
  • playing much more focused

Ok, let's go... I'll let you know.

How many sngs you can be running bad?

I am running bad 1200 sngs... and you?
