Potential Prop Bet

So I'm trying to put a prop bet together on 2+2 for September that would help out a lot on my quest for SNE, but would also require a TON of work. Basically, I will have to play 10,000 $52-$108 buy-in DoNs in September AND show a profit. The volume alone will be pretty tough b/c it will require over 200 hours of poker and I don't think I've put in more than 150 or 160 in the last 3 years. On top of that, when playing all the time you just aren't as sharp as you are when you can cherrypick to play only when you feel like it.

Decent Progress So Far

I'm at 430k VPP right now, and I think I was at 393k as of my last blog post on 8/5, so I'm fairly happy with my progress, but feel I can play a lot more consistently than I have been. I'd like to be playing at least two 3-hour sessions per day, but a lot of times I just end up with only 3 or 4 hours played. So, on the one hand I'm happy that I've been able to keep pace for SNE without really straining myself all that much, but on the other hand I'm a bit disappointed that I've slacked off when I could be getting myself a bit ahead of the pace I need to make SNE.

New Life!

Well, as some of you know there was a huge Chinese cheating ring terrorizing the double or nothing SNGs in early 2010 (and much of 2009 as well). This caused many of the regulars in those games to suffer terrible results and wonder what the hell was going. See my earlier posts in this blog to get into my mind before I knew about the cheating. It seemed like I was playing well enough to be at least a slight winner in those games, but I was losing my ass and couldn't figure out why. When the cheating scandal was revealed, it finally made more sense.

Midyear Update

Well, the first half of the year was nothing like what I expected, but I guess there is a damn good reason for that. For those that haven't heard, there was a huge cheating scandal in the double or nothing SNGs on PokerStars. Basically there were about 40 players, all from the area of Wenzhou, China, who were playing these SNGs together and colluding together. When one of the "team" needed chips, then a teammate would fold their BB to that player.

Time to Hit the Reset Button

Not a whole lot's changed poker-wise since my last update. I've been playing various SNGs and mostly breaking even, until 2 days ago when I figured out something cool. I can reset the stats on my Sharkscope stats and essentially get a clean slate. So now when you search Fossilkid93 on Stars, you will only find my stats from 2/10/10 onward.

Dealing With Running Poorly and Emotions in Poker in General

This will be my most serious blog post and I encourage all who read it to post their reactions and insights on the topic. First a quick update to bring everyone up to speed: I had an incredible month of December, my best month ever and it had me very excited about my prospects for 2010 and my goals included making SNE and winning a decent amount at the tables. Well, I ran terribly in January, my first losing month in a long while, and so far it's continued into February.

One Month Down

Well, January was pretty much a disaster all around, the only positive is that I finished with 92,000 VPPs, which puts me a couple days ahead of SuperNova Elite (SNE) pace. I was down close to $8k for the month at one point, but made a nice recovery at the end to cut losses to only $1800ish for the month. It's the first month in which I played 50+ hours that I've finished in the red for quite some time.

Change in Plans

I've never been one to stick with a plan for very long. Anyone who knows me well can attest to the fact that I will come up with a great new longterm plan, only to abandon it after only a couple days. Well, last blog I talked about focusing on the $52/54s for awhile, but I've scrapped that and I'm back to $104s!

Intro

Hi, welcome to my poker blog. I'll be talking a lot about results at the tables, but I'll also try and include topics like emotional control and bankroll management along the way.
