Sick run

Tagged:

So I just started playing the 6.50 9 man turbos on full tilt and I had a great start and profited almost 110 dollars. Since then, I've been on the sickest run ever and can't win anything to save my life. I don't understand why this is happening and I'd really like some input. Thanks guys.

the good news is is that it isn't a run over a lot of games, 40 isn't that many. if you are a profitable player then you will be fine. just keep at it.

It's the turbos. It's very swingy and tough to maintain a consistent upswing. I had the same exact experiece with the $11 single table sng's on ft. I heard there was always more variance for turbos but I didn't listen and was crushing it for a while. I had a nice $800 run at these games just to come crashing back to earth. I had to move to the non turbos to get more consistent #'s and o keep my sanity.

Yeah I realize the turbos involve higher variance but it is still possible to be a winning player at them. I'm going to keep grinding them out because I know I'm not making dumb plays so hopefully things will turn.

Just a comment. There is lots of confusion over this issue with people mistaking ROI effects and variance effects. The difference between Turbos and Normal tables is not really seen in terms of variance but much more in terms of ROI. This is because variance is determined by the pay off structures and these will be the same.

ROIs will be affected by turbos though. ROIs will be closer to the random mean determined by the ratio of the buy-in to the stake. So good players will have a lower ROI and donks will have a better ROI (well less negative!)

In my experience the effect on ROI is more than compensated by increase in volume. If you can maintain an ROI of 10% or better on turbos then your probably better off playing them to maximise your profit per hour.

However, if you ROI dips below 10% on turbos and is above 10% on normals then your probably better off on normals.

Sorry duplicate message - kept getting weird errors and didn't think my reply had posted

And again sorry!

Because that's poker.

oh and who said on my blog 'why dont you stop posting all you ever moan about is losing' lol...what is the title of your blog......sick run....now whose moaning......

I'm asking for advice, not whining on a blog post.

Same here man sick run for me too. I have been getting ran over with the best hand preflop 91 percent of the time and the flop comes 2 or 3 suited cards for the other guy and he hooks his flush by the river 8 out 10 times. Amazing not quite sure but it happens to me in real time to so i just wish i could win 5 or 6 cashes in a row like some people do on pokerstars.

same here man it sucks losing.
