Sniper tourneys on Absolute

I can't seem to get away from them!!!! especially with the guarantees. Despite having played 1-2 and 2-5 live cash games for a year and a half (05-06) I decided to move to KS and thought I would give online poker a try. I then had the WORST run of my career on Fulltilt. I doubt now it was the site's fault, but i have not returned in a while. Then a few months ago I discovered the MTT Sniper Tourneys on absolute. I haven't played too many of them, however the few I have played have rewarded me fairly well. The biggest being a $6.00 + 0.60 2k guarantee. 719 entrants, 2nd place with a payout of $510.02 + 12 knockouts for $12.00. With the exception of the donks (obviously,) I have run into quite a few talented players and promptly stayed out of their way. These may not be the most played by the online pro's, but I don't think of them too bad. If anyone has any pointers for these tourneys, please let me know. I have cashed fairly often but not too many big ones. I have also found that shuffling chips and listening to music has helped me focus IMMENSELY online. Since I started playing online that has been the hardest part of playing....I get too bored! Playing live there was never a problem. Going to play another one now. Hope to see you on the tables and thanks for reading.

Hey Capn_Jon, I like your comments about finding ways to focus through online poker like shuffling chips & music selection. Online poker can be a grind at times, and it's hard to resist noodling around with risky plays when the boredom of constantly getting unconnected offsuits sets in. If I need to inject a jolt of aggression into my play, I'll put on a mix of classic metal tunes like Iron Maiden's "Number of the Beast", Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train", and Incubus' "Nice to Know You". If I need to focus on playing a big tourney for the long haul, I'll typically put on some trance-y, repetitive music, of which Stereolab is currently my favorite (Stereolab gives you that "playing poker on a space colony in the 25th century kind of vibe...) What are you listening to, & what does it do to your play?

I kind of go in a different direction. playing aggressive doesn't do as well for me online (although I do still push my way out of pots if i smell weakness.) I can't seem to listen to my usual brand of music which includes your Iron Maiden and Ozzy. I do find that listening to some Incubus keeps me on track. I mostly listen to lighter stuff to keep me relaxed, such as Something Corporate, Anberlin, Yes, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Eric Clapton (quite a variance, I know.) I appreciate your comment, and wish you luck at the tables.
