New Year, New Blog

I thought i would kick of this year, rather belatedly, by starting a new blog to motivate me to achieve my 2011 goals. I haven't really played since before christmas due to moving house and only just getting broadband set up. I can play tethering my phone but i prefer that as a back up and didn't want to rely on that connection without a back up.
I mainly play normal speed 9man sngs(20 & 30 dollar level) on stars and have consistently been on the leaderboard throughout 2009 and 2010. 2010 without a doubt being my most profitable year since i started playing and overall i netted about $35,000, the graph attached is for lifetime profit not just last year. Last years figures can be approximately broken down as:

-9man sng profit: 16k
-HU sng profit: 2k
-MTT: 5k
-rakeback: 3k
-battle of planets bonuses: 4.5k
-stellar rewards: 1k (just under i just felt short of nova)
-live cash games/ tournys: 3k(loose estimate)

I started 2010 as a supernova due to the promotion in 2009 giving english players 80k vpp around june/july time, however due to me being lazy, holidays and other commitments i couldnt maintain the vpps required to keep it unfortunately but i definitely intend on getting it this year.

2011 GOALS:
-overall profit of $50k+
-150k vpp (supernova by september)
-start mixing in the $50 9mans and by summer time be playing mainly at the 50$ level then start mixing in the $100s

In order to achieve this i intend to play minimum 1000 sngs per month with an average of 1200 per month. This would mean playing alomost 15,000 sngs for the year and would easily get me 150k vpp and maybe even 200k depending on how many of the 50s i play.

Throughtout 2010 i was able to achieve a 14% ROI over about 5000 9mans(this shows how lazy i was, i intend to triple this amount, although i did spend a few months playing HU and MTTs). This ROI meant an average profit of over 3$ per game. If i can maintain that this year(i expect to improve av prof if i start playing the 50s) that would mean at least 45k raw sng profit, and then you have rakeback, BOP bonuses, stellar rewards and any MTT scores i should be able to smash my $50k mark.
HOPEFULLY!!

I have spent so much over christmas due to moving house, boozing, christmas presents and booking a 2 week hol to L.A and Vegas in March so my bankroll has taken a bit of a dent due to me not being able to play. I intend to smash out a lot of volume until i go Vegas cos i intend on spending a lot when i get there!

happy new year!

very nice roi for the 9mans.

Gl with everything this year.

nice graph also from the last few years.

Cheers mate i just need to GRIND and stop being lazy lol

Great graph and stats, I wish you luck for the new year
and hope you reach supernova,I play the turbos on
stars,I used to play normal speed games but find
them a bit boring now ever since I started with the
turbo games, even though my stats are better on
normal speed games.
I know I don't play anywhere near your stakes
though so my hats off to you.
I've been playing poker for a good few years
now and i'm trying to take it a lot more serious
than I ever used to (cos I hate working)
I'm not drinking any more when playing.
Do you use a HUD when playing boz?
If you do what do you recommend between
holdem manager & poker tracker? I asked
this question once before & got no response,
anyway bozlad all the best & keep on
beating the game

cheers mate, ive dabbled with the turbos on odd occassions but everytime i have i've ran like a turd. I find them very tilting lol. Im sure if i committed to them i would obviously ride out the variance and be profitable but i prefer the normal speed ones even though you cant play as much volume i think the increased roi and less variance/tilt makes up for it.

I don't use a HUD, i think i gave poker tracker a trial last year and didnt really think it made much of a difference when grinding loads of sng's and just clutters up the screen so i cant really help you there. I obviously see the benefit of them for mtts and cash games but not so much for STT SNGs

Thanks anyway,im still not sure if I will try a HUD
yet cos I haven't done too bad without one.
I just thought it would make some tricky decisions
a bit easier.

Good luck with all this year boz Wink
