Back to the grind, been a while!
Hey all! Some of you may remember my blogs from a long time ago - in fact its been almost a year since my last post, oops!
I have good excuses though. Started a maths degree last year in october and got literally no time to play poker in between having a social life and working the hardest ive ever had to work in my life just to keep up with the course, lol. I really thought i'd be grinding lots during university but i guess until you go you never truly appreciate how little time there is to do, well, anything!
So engrossed was I with uni, in fact, that I managed to miss the whole black friday thing. I had around $1500 naively sitting in UB "just in case" i wanted to go back to grinding during the holidays or during uni time if the workload relented. I heard about BF about a week after it happened, and then had further delays requesting a withdrawal since I needed to register my new debit card by depositing $10 after my old one got disactivated due to fraudulent activity.
Well, we're however many months on and i've still not seen a dime. There's been no news on UB's status in a looong time but I think that's probably a good thing... "no news is good news" and all that. At least they're not bankrupt, and their site is still making a good amount of rake per day so even if the team does shrink by epic proportions and you assume they're all greedy/shady it'll still make more sense for them to stick around than run off with our money. I hope.
With the whole BF thing i had $1k requested for withdrawal and decided i'd stick the other $450 on some high stakes heads ups for fun, since it was essentially play money to me by that point. Had a pretty sick robusto and i've now got a little under $4k stuck in there so I really hope I get to see that money someday, even if it takes a very long time.
Well my first year of uni is over and the dust has settled somewhat after the BF incident, so what's the plan now? Well, I'm back on Stars and intending to grind the 180man turbos again. Starting with a bankroll of around $350 I'm hoping to put in like 500 of the $2.50 180mans by the end of the month, maybe even more depending how many distractions I end up having. At the end of that I'll try and evaluate my performance and think about moving up - trouble is the next ones up are $8s which is quite a big jump and these things are notoriously swingy, so I'd probs want at least $850 before taking a shot at that. If i see a decent profit at the end of this month though maybe i'll be willing to top up my account with a bit extra and give them a go.
And would you look at that: 1 year on and nothing's changed. My blog posts are still enormous (most of you will tl;dr this i expect) and I'm back playing MTTs - 180mans pretty much identical to the first tournaments I ever played, and on the site I started with too. Expect to hear from me soon with how the month is progressing!
