Start blogging.....on a bad day!

Usually the time when players start blogging is just after a big win, or a consistent upswing in cash/sng session.....in my case the opposite is true. I am absolutely pissed of for missing a big opportunity of getting an outstanding result in the MiniFTOPS Event# 22 yesterday (6-handed 266$ buy in).

I wasn't even suppose to play this tourney, didn't play on Full Tilt much recently and just realised this tourney was on 5 minutes before it started.
I finished 15th out of 1901, with a first prize up for grab of 94k $....maybe not a life changing amout, but certainly life-changing from a poker prestige perspective. I don't regret any of the hands I played, which is the main thing, but losing a couple of coin flip in the critical moments cost me a fortune.

Not much I can do at this stage really, just keep working on my game and try again. Every time an opportunity like this comes up I feel like "I lost my big chance", but then very often I find myself with another shot at the big win no longer afterwards.

I love MTT and do quite well in them, playnig mainly on Gioco Digitale, but I also started on Pokerstars.it recently and I want to play more regularly on Full Tilt now. I am also getting ready for the introduction of Cash Games in Italy in a few months time......I recently joined Leggo Poker where I could find some good training in videos and strongly reccommend training online to everyone, there are plenty of companies doing them and they are usually really good.

I think this is it for my first blog entry, I will post some of my future Poker Objectives in my next entry Wink

Ciao,

Setting objectives for the next few weeks!

I really like to set myself some objectives when it comes to poker (and not only poker), not that then I do necessarily everything to achieve them, but I like to look back in a month time and see how it went.

Let's split it between online and live. I primarily play online now, as I can play many more tables at once and don't get bored. Live games are nice, and certainly softer than online games, but jaysus if you run bad and get no cards you waste an evening and get nothing out of it, apart from listening to the "I know everything" donks at the table, that have no idea what they are talking about. Also a lot of the weekly games around Dublin are low buy-in (100€ max) and don't really motivate me enough to leave home.....of course I'd rather go out pubbing or clubbing instead Smile

So I try to put down some of my goals for the forthcoming weeks from now until the end of October.

Online:
ICOOP on PS.it are the "big thing" this month - the problem is that almost all the events I am interested in (like Events 3&4 NLH 6-Max and the PLO event) fall during the weekend when I have friends visiting me and a paintballing game....so I will miss those. Here are the events I am planning to play though:
http://www.pokerstars.it/icoop/schedule/

Event #1 : NLH 50€ + 1 rebuy (I am suppose to go out that night but if I get lazy I will play this).
Event #6 : PL Omaha Hi/Lo 50€
Event #7 : NLHE Triple Shootout 100€
Event # 9: NL Hold'em [Heads Up] 100€
Event # 11: NLHE Main Event 100€

Apart from this I will play the usual daily/weekly games most nights, like the
"Night on Stars", the "High Roller" (this is on Gioco Digitale), Sunday Special, Sunday Master, Ultima Chance, etc, etc, and hope to make some good cashes.

I am also planning to go back playing more on Full Tilt, but not getting the 27% rakes back is a BIG turn off for me. It is ridiculous that if you don't sign up for rakeback when you join at the beginning, then you cannot get them afterwards. Let's see what I can do there. I will play the 90-man SNG Turbo (26$), I played a few of those last week after long time and found them very soft, so I will play more of those when time allows + some MTT obviously given the outstanding choice on FT.

I will continue study cash games on Leggo and get better and better at them in order to smash the tables when they get introduced in the Italian poker rooms, hopefully later this year. This would certainly be my main objective for the next 6 months.

Live:

Internation Poker Open http://www.boylesports.com/poker/d.asp?show=IPO_EventInfo_English

this is a low buy-in event which will attract 1.5k+ people....a record outside Las Vegas I believe. I played this in the last two years and never cashed. First year I played like a donk (I probably was a donk), second year I played wonderfully and lost 4 coin flips in a row to be sent to the rail....hopefully I will run better this year. I really miss a good result in one of these live events, so I am really looking forward to this!

Second objective is to try to qualify and play the Irish Winter Festival....this is a 1.65k € Event, that I wouldn't buy-in directly for, but if I can manage to play one or two live satelites I will be happy to try!

That's it for today, see you next time! Wink

Running soooo bad, but got a little satisfaction last night....I am a Razz natural talent! LOL

Certainly after the sick finish at the MiniFTPOS my level of concentration and motivation has dropped big time! I dropped 1.5k this week on Gioco Digitale, FT, and that stupid poker room of PS.it...I played only 70 games there (all tournaments) and my sharkscope is still in red! So I am a fish!!! Sad

Last night though I decided to play Event# 2 of the ICOOP...the Razz Event. I never played Razz but read through the rules here (it will be a handy website for the 8-Game next week): http://www.horsepoker.net/poker-game-rules.php

Well, I ended up finishing 14th out of 211....and quite pissed off about it as I got shit cards for the last hour and whenever got deal some decent hand I always ended up getting a f**** Q or K in fourth and fifth street, having to give up my hand and throwing chips away, until I decided to either go broke or double up....and got rivered!!!

GG anyway, I really had great fun, although I understand that if you are subject to tilt you should avoid playing Razz!

I am quite pissed off that I am missing the PLO game tonight, this game isn't my speciality, but I still got an edge on the filed and it is certainly +EV.....and then even worse am missing the 6-handed event (deep stack) on Sunday! I am sure I could make a very deep run as this is my #1 games....but f*ck it, I am going to play paintballing instead!

Running to the gym now, see you next time.

(GD Rules, FT is like a beautiful woman who doesn't want to sleep with you, PS....give me a break ffs!!!)

Update on ICOOP and getting ready for 3 months of HELL!!!

I have not been doing well in the ICOOP, I played 4 events so far and only cashed in one (the Razz Evet, first time I played the game). I was disappointed of my performance in the 8-Game Event (although I am new to most of the games) and played ok in the Omaha H/L Event but didn't cash....I was actually happy to go out (at 2am!!!) and get some sleep. I really need to get back getting more sleep as I feel very tired the following day and often can't get to train in the gym at evening because of that!

Tonight is my last night of freedom from Poker, I am going to the pub to watch Bayern-Juve and then go to bed early.

From tomorrow I will start playing MTT on GD very intensively. They have put new Leaderboards in place for the next few months (can be found here http://www.pokerdigitale.it/blog/promozioni/in-arrivo-le-classifiche-rev... ), whereby results of MTSNG do not count against the MTT ranking and therefore this is +++EV for me as I don't play MTSNG at all.
Also, at the end of the 3 months, the best MTT player (based on best 50 MTT results) will become a sponsored played in the GD Team....this is a big incentive for me to play.
I will put big effort on this, I seriously think I am in the race, and we are no more than 50 players with serious chances of achieving this - unfortunately (LOL) I have a day job too, so I won't be able to play all the MTT on GD, but will play as many as I can to maximise my chances.

I have been running quite bad lately on GD (although I FT the "Monday Party" a couple of days ago) but hope to turn things around!

That's it for today.
